The creature moved its long spider-like limbs creeping towards her like she was a wounded animal. Logically, she knew she should be afraid, that she should run away as far as she could and never look back.
But as she stared into the burning center of the creature, she couldn’t bring herself to run. There was something too. . . familiar.
“What,” its voice was a sound somewhere between tv static and shattering glass, “you?”

Summary
For a moment Dick looked utterly stricken, but that was all the reaction that Jason got. It wasn’t like he wanted the man to drape himself over Jason in an overdramatic puddle of tears, but something would have been nice. Maybe a hug that lasted between 5-12 seconds. Maybe a solitary man-tear that slipped its way down Dick’s face. Anything that indicated ‘I’m so glad my brother came back from the dead because I grieved him in his absence.’
Instead, Dick simply blinked hard and slid his gaze over to Tim.or
The world ends, so Jason travels back in time in a desperate gamble to return to his family. He finds Tim, but when he goes to reunite with his older brother, Dick can't believe his eyes. Literally.

“B? Is that you? What the hell are you wearing? Did you dye your hair?”
Bruce blinks, his only show of surprise but he doesn’t let it show in his voice though, when he asks halfway to his Batman growl, “I’m asking again - who are you? What are you doing here?”
"Well, shit." The guy says and rattles off some numbers and letters so fast Jason barely gets any of it while Dick squints his eyes as if that would help him hear better. Jason can’t tell if he’s trying to figure out what the hell that means or if he already knows and has a careful non-reaction.
Bruce stills and seems to really look at the guy for the first time, his voice weirdly strangled when he says, “You know we have to verify that.”

He’s nine again– nine and new and knows so many things now so rather than try to go back–
He thinks he has the chance to make things right.
The bright blue trainers he puts on are a pair he hasn’t worn in forever, something he never thought about after he grew out of them (will grow out of?) a year from now, and sets off into the night and into the rain.
The plan he has in his brain is not really a plan, moreso just a couple of half thrown ideas and maybe five steps into building back the life he had in the most painless way he could.
Maybe, he thinks, maybe this plan can start off with the family he misses– because he’s sixty and most of them too injured or too old or too dead–
Call him selfish but he misses them. He would rather find them than get himself back into that lonely existence he called a life before he woke up at nine.
Dick makes do because that’s all he can do really.
