1987 went to shit. Vecna brought on what may well be the apocalypse, and Steve fought it to the end. Literally.
Death was supposed to be a one-way street. But knowing a girl with super powers had a tendency to change the game. So when Steve opens his eyes to a beer-soaked bathroom on Halloween in 1984, Nancy calling him 'bullshit' all over again, the universe might forgive Steve for thinking he was either a) in Hell or b) going cracked. But Steve didn't have time to freakout. Not when El finds him and asks that he help her change the events of the future. Not when he's the only other person she managed to drag with her for chance number two.
OR: A time travel fix-it, where 1987 Steve is dropped back into his 1984 self. And now he has to deal with that plus the impending apocalypse on the horizon. But he'll be fine, right? Because, as El informs whoever asks, Steve's 'The Babysitter'. So he gets to work. He can cry later, when he's done.

Louis may enjoy the routine and predictability of something as prosaic as the requirements of managing a business–one of his many little idiosyncrasies that Lestat simultaneously enjoys and is frequently irritated by–but for him? Non. He can enjoy the artistry of a well-planned ball or the satisfaction of a business deal well-struck, but he’s always enjoyed the freedom of not quite knowing what’s coming next. In a long, long life, it’s far too easy to fall into a rut and find oneself constrained to it for decades before noticing.
Even with his taste for surprise, however, Louis holding out a tiny, sooty, sniffling child is a shock he is not best pleased by.
He flicks his eyes up from the big-eyed, dripping moppet, raising a brow and feeling his lip curl slightly in distaste. The child reeks of smoke and fear and God only knows what else.
“Put it back,” he says flatly.

Todd could feel his heartbeat in his head. He'd always been sort of outwardly nervous, terrible at hiding it, concealing it, pushing it down. He knew Neil and the others must have noticed and cursed himself for not being more subtle. They didn't seem too bad—a little confrontational for Todd's taste—but not rude, not going out of their way to exclude him. They still made him nervous, though. They knew of Jeffrey's excellence and could see plain as day that Todd was far from being like his brother.

Summary
Once Neil gets to about page 6 when looking over his play, he feels his eyebrows furrow. Now, obviously since the play was about the Poets as a whole, there wasn’t really a main character. There would be a more prominent character in each given scene, but Neil made sure to avoid making himself the one who narrated and directed the entire story.
But once he was about halfway through rereading what he had so far, he realized that every character more or less revolved around one Poet in particular. Every scene managed to include the character, there were always in-depth descriptions of what he and his facial expressions looked like, and everyone either went to him for help or obviously valued his opinion highly.
Neil had named the character William, and he was realizing now that he had included a surprising amount of descriptions about this character’s blond hair, blue eyes, and unassuming but devout personality.
Oh shit, Neil thinks to himself, I accidentally made Todd the main character.
Or in which it's 1960, the Poets' senior year at Welton, and Neil's writing a secret play, his magnum opus, but there's just one problem: Todd keeps getting in the way.
