By the time the first chapter was finished, Childe was on the floor, legs kicking in the air like a child in a candy-induced coma, reading excerpts in a poorly disguised Zhongli impersonation.
“‘He loomed before me like the last pillar of the world, dark eyes brimming with ancient sin and unspoken desire. I, drenched in the blood of the innocent and also shirtless, knew at once I had finally found my match.’”
“Is this… how people perceive us?” Zhongli asked the heavens. The heavens, unbothered, sent a breeze through the window scented with cherry blossoms and shame.
Childe howled with laughter. “Oh, this is gold. This is a treasure trove, Zhongli. Wait, wait, let me find the line again—ah! Here we go!”
‘And then he growled, “Your crimes against Liyue must be punished… personally.”’
“Oh. Oh that’s filthy,” Childe wheezed, tears streaming down his face. “Personally?! Zhongli, my xiansheng, my geo daddy, what have you been doing behind my back?”
