It’s another gorgeous day in New L’Manberg. Tubbo’s stilted streets of deep toned spruce and honey-touched oaks are warm under his feet from the sun, and a sign and a small banner proclaim the country’s name in front of his face. Wilbur is so happy to let the ‘L’ roll of his tongue as he says it, ‘Manberg’ was harsh and too guttural, but the two extra syllables make it something that could fit on a melody, a four-note beat he could set the pace of his unbeating heart to.
The citizens of New L’Manberg track him with cautious eyes at first, until Tubbo changes his eyes to slightly sad ones, listening along to Wilbur’s rambles, warming up to the truly soot-grey sight of his face and sunshine yellow of his ever-present sweater. The rest of the population soon follow, laughing at Wilbur’s strange innocence and telling him what he’s done with only a little bit of spite in a pitying mask and fixing their mouths in a line when he suddenly forgets what he’s doing or stares into space or laughs at nothing.
But all the people who get sad when Wilbur starts laughing after shock-still silence are dumb.
Because Wilbur’s not laughing at nothing.

That's not the only thing, though. There's a form sprawled on the ground, apparently having broken his damn roof when they emerged from what Tommy assumes was the portal. He creeps forward, sword at the ready as the figure groans, sitting up. They're wearing a familiar coat, and Tommy's blood runs cold when he spots the brown fabric, and the patch sewn into the back.
"...Wilbur?" The figure freezes, going stiff. Slowly, they stand, brushing themselves off as they turn around. Behind him, Phil lets fly a low string of curses, drawing his own sword. Tommy's speechless, blade clattering to the ground as he stares at the older man in front of him.

Tommy Craft, youngest child to the famed Philza Minecraft, was raised within war. Raised to fight, raised to kill, raised to revolt. As such, “childish antics” were war crimes that pushed boundaries between friends and enemies.
To be young, to not realize what was happening right before his very eyes- broken bonds and shattered memories of days long since past- how he wished he could be young inside and out, and not feel a decade older than he was; to not feel the pressing weight of abandonment on his shoulders day in and day out. Disappointed gazes- Techno, Phil, Tubbo, Wilbur- pressing into his back every. Single. D a y.
Exile, he figured, wouldn’t have been too bad had Dream not shown up to belittle him everyday, forcing him to burn his valuables, lest he get a sword punctured through his chest. However, two months in, he’s had enough.
No more shall he lay, wasting away, as Dream hounds him day after day with insults and demeaning remarks. No longer shall he stir in his anger when he can actually do something.
It’s time that “Tommyinnit” is laid to rest amongst the carcass of fire and ash, and a new form take his place.
It’s time to be reborn.
