Yo. If you read only one bg3 fic, make it this one. Even if Astarian/Gale isn't your thing. Even if, like myself, you don't really like Astarian very much. Guys. Folx. This story exited fandom and reminded me of the love I have for the very genre of fantasy.

Summary
Astarion and Gale are two sides of the same coin. They know what it's like to hunger, what it's like to be someone else's tool, both used to fulfill someone else's goals. Astarion has never been allowed to love, has only ever wanted peace and safety. Gale has searched for love his entire life, yearning to find someone who wants to be loved by him. They both want someone who sees them.
This is my take on Astarion and Gale learning what it means to find someone who sees beyond what they can offer (Astarion's body, Gale's magic). The story of what it's like to fall in love with someone who might just love you back.
Begins in the prequel, set during Act One, when they both feel drawn to one another, but there's not a time nor place for anything deeper. It continues, months later, after the brain, after Baldur's Gate, in the magnificent city of Waterdeep, a fresh start for them both, and time to heal from wounds neither knew they had.

Summary
"Scourge of the Caribbean" has been Stede's favorite book series since he was 12 years old. Now, age 47, divorced, and an aspiring author, he turns back to the series to draw inspiration from the familiar story. But as he starts reading, he realizes that something is different. Blackbeard, the main character, is apathetic and depressed, and the story has changed. Even stranger still, Stede seems to be the only one aware that this change has occurred.
Desperate to understand what's going on, he returns to an old hobby of his, fanfiction, to try and understand what's going on in Blackbeard's mind. But he never expected for Blackbeard to actually start talking back.

Summary
Stede takes in a deep breath and smiles. “Ed, I—” he says, but that’s as far as he gets before Ed’s pulling the gun out of its holster.
He aims, and Stede manages to yelp and duck just in the nick of time. The wood behind him splinters. “Fucking hell!” he yells, and springs back up into standing position. He takes a second to mourn the scarred wood before turning to Ed. “I know I cocked things up, but there’s no need to be dramatic!”
1717. The Golden Age of Piracy. Stede Bonnet sets about wooing the love of his life through any means necessary.

“I was going to make tomato toasts,” he says, hearing the whine in his voice over the driving rain. “The loaves you baked yesterday would be perfect.”
Ed laughs and Stede turns, about to get snappy about Ed laughing at his distress, but... oh.
Ed is stretched out on their bed, nothing but his robe on, barely draped around him. It’s the blush-pink one, a warm, sweet color that makes Stede think of spun sugar and dripping fruit juice, and Ed’s hair is an unruly mess around his head, and his legs are long and muscular and hairy and perfect, and he’s on his side, cheek on his fist, one leg bent up. He looks decadent, indulgent, like a dessert, and Stede, suddenly, is much less concerned with the change in plans.
Inspired by Kuuttamo's incredible comic! Credit for a chunk of the dialogue goes to them and also for the way this posessed my brain.

Summary
Ed is an engineer aboard the Revenge, an interplanetary research vessel on a multi-year mission to study Jupiter's moon Europa. An accident requires that Ed awaken from cryostasis over six months early, and finds his only companion to be Stede, the ship's onboard AI. They develop an unconventional friendship, but is it possible to have more?
This is classic mutual pining with a sci-fi twist, inspired by all of my favorite stories about the nature of personhood.

“You–” Ed was struggling to parse what Stede was saying. “You’re playing your version of this song for me, right now? Like, in real time?”“Yes, Edward, that’s correct,” said Stede softly.
Ed’s brain momentarily seized up. He supposed it made sense that Stede was capable of learning a set of rules to do something like arrange and play a piece of music. There was something unnerving about this song, though. It felt, well–it felt organic . Reactive. Almost collaborative in a way. Ed was lost in the push and pull of it, until the last notes softly petered out.
“So, what did you think?” asked Stede. It sounded nervous again. Why the hell would someone program an anxiety response into a bot?

The new year is fast approaching, and Stede’s desperate to cross at least ONE thing off his very old bucket list so he can prove to himself that the last five years (and by extension his entire life) haven’t been a complete waste. The mission? Learn to French braid. The complication? The salon he chose for his mission is closed because it's New Year's Eve. The unexpected solution? A beautiful stranger with kind eyes and the most insanely gorgeous hair offers to Teach (heh) him.
This is a New Year's AU for those who hate New Year's. Or, rather, have some rather messy, complicated feelings about how all the twinkling lights and period of reflection emphasizes feelings of inadequacy and unfulfillment that leads to an annual period of existential dread, but that doesn't make for as catchy a tagline.

Summary
Stede & Ed cave dive together.
(They do basically everything together, but diving was always the crux of it).As they map a previously unexplored section on a return to their first-ever dive spot, an accident leaves them with no choice but for one to leave the other behind in a barely-habitable, partially-dry cave and send rescue. Jim, Olu, Frenchie, Lucius, and Izzy get the rescue going, hoping to get to their trapped comrade before it goes from “rescue” to “recovery.”
LOOOOOSELY based on the true story of The Room of Three Miracles in Sa Piqueta Cave.

Summary
Shockingly, Stede has messed up. He wishes he could say he doesn't know how but he does. He moved too fast, he pushed too hard, and he didn't respect Ed's wishes. And now Ed has gone. Run off to sea. Which, fair enough, is pretty standard for a pirate but to be a fisherman? Really? Stede's clumsy advances were so inexpert, his company so unappealing, that Ed would rather spend his days ankle deep in fish guts?
But Stede knows that's not all. He's crossed a line. He stepped over it into Blackbeard's world and he did it with a witty quip on his lips.
He's killed.
He's maimed.
He has engulfed himself in the flames of violence and now he must stand and watch his world catch fire.
So here he is, alone and drunk. The burn of the rum his only comfort.
Perhaps it will be enough.

Honestly, Stede had no control over how he had ended up in the situation: having to kiss Ed as a result of a lost wager with the crew. But he can’t, hand on heart, say that he regrets it. It may even prove to be the spark that ignites a much brighter future for himself, and hopefully for - with - Ed as well. If he can just work out how best to stoke that intriguing fire…
“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!“
The chant, with its rich harmonies of multiple voices, rolls, inexorable as a tidal wave, across the twilight deck.
Oh good God. And things had all been going so well.
Stede stands, stiff and mortified, doing his best to ignore where he can make out Ed in his peripheral vision. Ed, standing next to Stede and calmly watching him, his face still, his arms folded across his chest.
If only he hadn’t argued with Lucius, none of this would be happening. He wouldn’t be about to make an absolute fool of himself whilst also, more importantly, humiliating Ed in the process as well. Not that Ed looks humiliated. In fact, Stede could swear that there is a hint of a smirk lurking under that luscious beard.
