It's a safe enough read that you can break it out in public, but not if you have any triggers. Which, if you do, like the author said multiple times: 'What are you doing here, bro?'

I don't have any faith in it ever being finished since LowlyWriter is no longer into the fandom, their love of Dadzawa not withstanding. But it would be nice to at least get a reveal and a hug or two, even should that be years, and a smattering of chapters, down the line.

This is very well done, really well thought out, and the author is good at what they do.
This is maybe my third time attempting to read through it and perhaps someday I'll even get it done. However... This really is not up my alley in terms of fics that I enjoy.
Sure, I know that exposition and explanations are important, but having maybe 10 lines (or fewer) of dialogue in 15k+ words is a fucking chore, even if it is interesting. A room full of people and about five seconds of dialogue happen for the entirety of their interaction because most of it is in massive blocks of internal introspection, and I have to tell you, it's hard to stay interested.
Especially since Izuku is an anxiety riddled, nervous mess 99% of the time he's awake. If he's not in the middle of a panic attack, he's on the verge of being in one while disassociating into a coma like state. That was interesting maybe the first dozen times, but it's hard to maintain any enthusiasm when you know it's going to happen again in the next massive wall of text.
I am very interested in the story and its execution, so I'll bookmark it to keep tabs, but I cannot do the author justice when I keep skipping large chunks of the story because I'm desperate for someone, ANYONE, to say something and break up entire fucking chapters of just exposition and internal dialogue. No joke, skipped whole chapters because no one spoke aloud a single damn word.
It's mind numbing and I can't shut my brain off long enough to get through it.

It's good, and I like it, but I can only get so far before the author throws everything Izuku is out the window with the bath water and I just can't finish it.
So I'll keep it, and maybe when I care less about things not feeling how they should I'll go back and finish reading it.
I also take heavy umbridge with how heroes and police alike treat pre memory loss Oni like the anti Christ to be killed on sight even though he's mostly harmless. Those cops that shot to kill as he escaped over the bridge? Why? For what reason were they aiming to KILL him?
Holy shit, the whole 'he's a menace to society and so must be punished to the fullest extent of the law just for daring to exist!' is super annoying.
Also, I'm not a fan of teenage romance because teenagers are gross idiots and I don't want to read about them mooning over each other, making out or banging. I'm an adult, that shit doesn't appeal to me. Hell, being aro ace means that it didn't appeal to me when I was a teen myself. It's an annoying side quest 99.9% of stories are better off without.

This is a phenomenal read! The author knew exactly what they were doing with the series mixing and it shows. From their responses to comments, Prey is a game they adore and know inside and out.
It's a phycological thriller and should have been tagged that way because my anxiety was through the dang roof the whole time!
As I've not personally played Prey and only watched playthroughs of it, I was in the dark for the last 10 or so chapters. I'm sure it wasn't intentionally confusing (45% of the time), but it sure felt like it.

Okay, this is great, fantastic even, and the smut is very well done.
However, I gotta be honest. This is angst on top of drama on top of titanic levels of emotional trauma. I got to chapter 20 and was like yo, I can't handle this anymore, skipped to chapter 30, then 35, then 40. I carried on from there to the end and the angst just kept on ANGSTIN'. I'm like wtf, this is the home goddamn stretch, leave my feelings out of this!
So yeah, good story, but I just couldn't deal. Perhaps now that I've spoiled it for myself I'll be able to go back and read it with a bit less anxiety.

That was a fun romp! Always love me some OP Izuku, especially when it's done right and well thought out.
While I'm not a fan of overly stuttery, mental and social mess Izuku (weeps all the time, self doubt through the roof, refuses to listen to any bit of reason and just, I don't know, sucks the whole damn time [if Izuku being that way is due to trauma related to us in the story, that's something else entirely]), I can also only handle so much of super sassy, smug OOC Izuku. He wasn't too obnoxious in this so it gets a pass.
I like that the only bit of romance that we get is at the very end, because yeah, I hate romance in the things that I'm trying to enjoy when it really isn't necessary; teenage romance even moreso. I don't want to read about children being awkward and horny, please and thank you.

I'm interested in the concept and how Izuku will use his OP quirk to win the war and free his soul from Death. The author has made his creation quirk make sense in a creative, logical way, adding reasons for why they're doing what they're doing, which is kind of refreshing.
HOWEVER. This is clearly romance first, plot second, and I absolutely HATE THAT SHIT. There's no need for the BakuDeku to be this obnoxiously forward.
Um, Izuku, I thought you were here to save the fucking world, not giggle/flirt/boner suppress with your abuser. 'Oh Kacchan, will you help me "train"? Teehee UwU.'
Never mind the fact that this is his second go around, gave himself a quirk so he remembers everything, and yet he still acts like 99% of this is new to him (I'm only partly talking about OFA, YOU KNEW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU PUT IT ALL IN ONE LIMB, AND YET YOU WERE LIKE 'OH YEAH, ALL MIGHT, WHATEVER YOU SAY, ALL MIGHT'). Like wtf?
Oh, and I guess meeting death magically makes you gay, who knew? Because Izuku was all hot for Uraraka the first time (acknowledged by the author themselves), but now his dick is all doki doki for Katsuki, and he explains it away as being just friendly admiration for Uraraka back then. Yeah, right, sure. I get it author, you want the stupid Deku with the asshole Baku, you could have made the gay awakening last longer than three days. Katsuki was expecting a confession from Izuku behind the school? SINCE FUCKING WHEN.
I hear you, you may be asking why I'm adding this to my bookmarks if I'm so clearly against it. But I'm not really; it started off strong and very quickly went downhill when it was decided that Izuku and Katsuki absolutely NEED to suck face, preferably before chapter 20 it would seem. I can be forgiven for wanting this to be the OP Izuku doing a time travel fix-it and wrecking house that was promised to us in the summary/tags. The rating is stuck at Gen for now, so there's hope that this won't turn into an underage fuck fest with a plot in the background. That's why I bookmarked it. Although I reserve the right to have this fic lose my number if Izuku continues to giggle and simper like a goddamn airhead.

Basically, I looked at some fan theories about Dr Tsubasa, All for One, and Izuku and then decided, 'Hey, I want to make a fic!"

Okay, this is really well done, and the first arc is good enough that I don't mind bookmarking it even though the author is a busy teacher who can barely find the time to write.
That being said, I'm a bit fed up with Izuku right now in the second arc. He's a bit of a shifty, two-faced bitch with double standards so high they're officially in orbit.
Really Izuku? Really? You put your dad in prison because you couldn't stand his bullshit anymore, but you're A-ok with letting Dabi run loose even though he spelled out to you all the murder he's going to commit?
Either you're going to be a hero and save lives or just give up and be your dad if you're just fine with letting your friends run off and do evil shit.
Seriously, what a self righteous hypocrite. Izuku had the opportunity to do good and save a ton of lives just then (ch. 46), instead he crawled up his own ass and has decided to live there. If your dad killing and stealing quirks was too much for you, then wtf is this? Because we KNOW Dabi is going to kill people, it's what he does, it's what he said he was going to do, and Izuku knows it. No hand holding (or kissing) needed; it was all laid out for him like he was a moron. And honestly, he kind of is.
Teenagers are fucking dumb as hell. Stop being an asshole, Deku.

Mitsuki pats his cheek. “Oh, hon. Not at all.”
He goes upstairs. The bed makes a pomf noise as he faceplants into it. He needs a date for the sake of his pride, but there has to be a guarantee he won’t get rejected. Gossip travels and he’s not inconspicuous. He can already see the future headlines. Exposé : Bakusatsuo, failure at prom.
He sighs and rolls over. “Fine,” he says to the All Might poster next to his bed. “I’m not showing up to that dance alone. We’ll go with plan B.”

Very fun, cute read. If Katsuki weren't so awful in canon, I could totally see this being their relationship.
Not the way I've seen it from other authors where he's still an absolute abusive shit to Izuku even while dating and Izuku just accepts it. That's not okay, knock it off, people.

This is the way the world works: the sun rises in the east. The strong come out on top. Bakugou Katsuki rockets through life like a comet and Midoriya Izuku stumbles after. If he believed in such things Katsuki would say it was written in the stars. That some god of war had looked at him and said this one. That he’d been passed along a line to get his blessings – genius, willpower, fearless ambition – and dropped off on earth.
Then, of course, there is the question of Deku. The spitfire runt. Deku, no matter what the world does to him, never stops hoping.
Until, of course, he eventually does.
(Katsuki broke him. Snapped him in half like a twig and now has to scramble to put Deku back together. “We can do this, Deku," he says slowly. "There are so many mysteries that never got put to bed. Criminals roaming around looking to hurt people and you and me, we can fix that.”
There’s a long pause. The comforter slips a little off Deku’s skinny shoulders and drowns him. “You mean like a team?”
In that split second, Katsuki makes a decision he’s never even considered. He swallows his pride. “Yeah, Deku. We’d be a team.”)

In the end, Izuku goes back to being a traumatized teenager with too many secrets. And yeah, you knew it was going to be that way, but I kinda wish he'd have grown a bit (ha!) from the whole thing.
We all could use Aizawa's confessional kitchen every now and again.

I can't even... No one can really.
This fic is a master class in how to royally mess with your reader's minds. It is unapologetically twisted, fucked up and meta as hell. It's spooky, and creepy, and full of mind buggery.
Need an existential crisis? Shit's got you covered. But it's also GOD DAMN HILARIOUS, and really, it has no right to be this funny.
Only thing I don't care for much is how everyone blames all the terrible shit happening on Izuku. Like really? He has absolutely no control over this stuff and it's extremely obvious he's just as fucked as everyone else is. I could understand if they're mad or upset at his blasé attitude, but he has to live in it all the time. It's either be indifferent or go insane. Which, I mean, yeah, he probably already is, and yet he's the most sane person in this whole thing...
But no, they all hate Izuku for all the stuff happening (except for Katsuki, he's pretty chill in this, surprisingly), and pretty much treat him like garbage the whole time. Especially Hitoshi. Izuku saved your life, bitchboy, get the fuck over yourself.
Still, their being jumpy, paranoid assholes does lend for some extremely funny situations, so it's a win/lose type thing.

Midoriya emerged from the darkness, rubbing at an eye tiredly, “Mind if I join you?” He asked, mouth cracking wide on a yawn.
Hitoshi blinked up at Midoriya, examining the other boy for a moment. In the low, pale light, the bags under Midoriya’s eyes looked as deep as Hitoshi’s own. Puffy and purple, they stood out starkly against his skin, making Midoriya look sickly pale in contrast to the energetic version of him Hitoshi had gotten used to dealing with during the day.
But, he supposed, of all the people in Class 1-A to get stuck watching a bad movie with in the middle of the night, Midoriya wasn’t the worst.
There's only room enough for one insomniac in Class 1-A, so Hitoshi can't have Midoriya encroaching on his title.- Language:
