Summary
Having lived in exile from the citadel since he was twelve, Will knows well the necessity of having a daily schedule: wake up early, gather materials, make tinctures and poultices for clients, take care of the garden, and never use magic when your hands will do just fine. These are the tasks he lives by until one ordinary day when he wakes up late, and it all spins out of control. He goes to the garden in the evening, far past his usual time, and finds an unwelcome visitor stealing his food and flowers. It only gets worse when he learns this man has been visiting every night for the past several months, unbeknownst to Will, and his eyes look just a little too familiar.
And once it becomes clear his unwelcome guest isn't going to stop his nightly visits anytime soon, Will is forced to choose between pretending as if they're strangers or divulging the peculiar past they share, between wearing a mask and allowing the truth to be told.

They gleam with mischief, intelligence, and something else - something old and knowing. He watches Gen with open amusement, like someone who just found an unexpected letter in a familiar book. “I didn’t expect you. I’ve been trying for Yuzuriha or Taiju since I can’t get to Senku.”"
After the petrification, Gen starts dreaming of a man who died 3,700 years ago.

It’s not always the same dream. Sometimes it’s his death day again, Tsukasa standing in front of him, solemn and hopeful as he delivers his ultimatum: give up science or die. Sometimes he dreams it’s Yuzuriha dying instead, Tsukasa’s spear piercing her fragile throat. Sometimes she and Taiju both get found out as spies, and Tsukasa dumps their bloodied corpses before the bridge leading to the village.
After Hyoga, he dreams of the village burning: Ruri trapped in her temple, still too weak to make it out through the smoke, or Suika getting stuck in one of the huts as it goes up in flames, Kinro and Ginro getting pierced clean through, Kohaku crumbling to the ground in a pool of her own blood.
Sometimes, the dreams almost start out nice. They never stay that way.

Finding the nightmares he faces every time he sleeps to be unbearable, Senku starts staying awake as long as he can. It’s up to Gen to comfort him and coax him into bed.

“I’m fine, Senku-chan,” Gen replies, his usual smile slipping onto his face, but even he can feel it doesn’t carry the same believability it normally does and Senku’s blank expression tells Gen exactly what it needs to, he doesn’t believe him, not one millimetre.
“You used to be easier to lie to, Senku-chan,” Gen says wistfully, eyes closed lightly to make sure he doesn’t meet his friend's gaze, hands picking absentmindedly at the blanket that covers his legs.
“You mean I used to fall for it,” Senku corrects.

To the Cleaners, their bond doesn’t make sense— they don’t know, likely won’t ever know what they went through together, how Jabber initiated and Zanka, in an unhinged rush of stress, pain and desire, met him halfway.
They’re too similar not to have ended up like this, he thinks bleakly. Maybe it was bound to have happened, one way or another.
After the loop, Zanka recovers. But recovery is not a steady slope, and before the healing process can begin, all infected areas must be purged. The question is: once all the ugly bits are cut away, how much of Zanka really remains?

Summary
Zanka’s breaths are short and wet– he’s not long for this world. Without his mask and with that gaping wound in his chest, anyone can see that he’s not going to survive more than another minute or so. Jabber sits beside him, giddy with anticipation as he waits for Zanka's inevitable death.
Jabber gets trapped in a time loop where Zanka dies, over and over. It doesn't bother him- he loves the look on Zanka's face as the light fades from his eyes- until he comes to a few realisations about himself, and then it really, really does.
