Summary
“Do you need it?” Eddie asks, nodding toward the drawer where they both know the collar is kept.
Buck wants to say no. He should say no.
He’s messed up—again. All day, he’s been off, short-tempered, careless. He knows he’s pissed Eddie off. And he knows that even if Eddie punishes him for it, the aftercare will be soft, gentle, undeserved.
He doesn’t deserve that kind of sweetness.
He barely notices Eddie moving until he’s right in front of him.
“Buck. Hey. I got you. Do you need it or not?” Eddie catches Buck’s chin between his index finger and thumb, tilting him down to look at him. His voice is steady and so easy to latch onto. He’s looking at Buck. He’s paying attention to him, even after everything. Buck hasn’t earned it.
Buck has to earn love. Or he thought that, but right now, he’s not doing a lot of thinking. The second he nods, Eddie is smiling so softly at him, lifting a hand to pet through Buck’s hair.

Summary
The idea comes to him about four weeks too late, a month after an interesting series of events that leads to the four of them hiding in the back of the ambulance before their shift, early enough that they’re still early enough for Gerrard.
“Wait. Eddie?”
He raises an eyebrow in acknowledgement.
“Why don’t I ask Chris to live with me?”
After four tumultuous weeks, Buck thinks things deserve to work out for once and strives to make it happen. He may not have all the answers, but he’d never stop trying to fix his family when it was broken.

“How long have you two been together?” a voice asks next to him. Eddie startles at the low British tones, almost forgetting that he walked over to the bar with Henry.
Eddie shakes his head and looks away, his cheeks flushing at the fact that he had been caught staring. “We’re not.”
Henry looks down at Eddie, confused. “No?” He pauses for a moment, looks in Buck’s direction and then back to Eddie, reassessing. “But you’re in love with him?” he asks gently.
Eddie thought about lying, but there is something about Henry that makes it almost easy to tell him the truth. Eddie also had a feeling that had he tried to lie, Henry wouldn’t believe him anyway.
Eddie’s gaze finds its way back to Buck. Taking in his curls, the look on his face, the way he seems so relaxed and at peace. Buck hasn’t looked this happy in a long time. “How did you know,” is all Eddie responds.
“Because you look at him the same way I used to look at Alex.”
OR Eddie takes Buck along with him and Christopher to Austin, Texas for a Diaz Family Reunion™ at his uncle’s LBJ lake house, where Eddie’s cousin’s new fiancé, Henry, decides to play cupid for Buck and Eddie

Later, Eddie would remember it in slow motion. The way he could feel everyone freeze in place. It was all broken by a single yell.
“It’s gonna fall!”
Eddie wasn’t sure who sent out the warning. As if shocked to life, everyone around him jumped to action, moving themselves and others out of the way.
In reality it was maybe thirty seconds in total. Eddie was still standing in place, frozen. He was unable to tear his gaze away from the building in front of him.
The building that was collapsing.
The building that Buck was inside.
