Summary

Here Shouto is, sitting in a hospital room with a detective who can tell with absolute certainty whether or not someone is lying, ready to hide and falsify and bend the truth as much as he possibly can. He has a plan, he just needs to make sure that it works.
“Did you recognize the individual who attacked you and killed your father?” Detective Tsukauchi asks, pen and notebook in hand.
Shouto envisions a shadowy figure with indistinct features punching himself in the gut and stabbing his father in the chest with an unknown object. The figure doesn’t look like anyone he knows, doesn’t really look like anyone at all. “No.” he says. Detective Tsukauchi nods, smiling reassuringly at Shouto before writing down his answer, and Shouto fights the urge to smile himself.
How can you lie to someone that can’t be lied to? Apparently, all you have to do is tell the truth—about a fictional story that you make up in your head as you go.
Shouto doesn’t know why he was worried. If he’d known how easy it would be to get away with it, he would have killed his father years ago.

Or, Todoroki Shouto murders his father and blames it on the Bogeyman. It works surprisingly well, until it doesn’t.
