“Well, this is quite an odd series of events.” Nugget said, standing to his feet and dusting himself off.
“Nugget’s friend appears to have stolen his hair.” Nugget said, leaning in slightly to observe the strange phenomena, hand tapping his chin in thought.
“And you appear to have stolen mine.” Kid said in return, leaning back slightly to give himself distance from the boy. Nugget let out a low grumble, crossing his arms.

Summary
Nugget knew he wasn’t a normal kid. His mind worked differently from how most children his age did. While they were busy playing with toy cars and tearing each other limb from limb, Nugget spent most of his time keeping to himself.
His parents weren’t exactly normal either. They were quiet, distant, always muttering something about rituals and Talismans. He didn’t understand what it meant at the time, but that would all change when he hit the ripe age of five.
Instead of celebrating his birthday like kids his age usually did, his parents, donning him in a strange red robe alongside themselves, brought him deep into the crevices of a dark cave where a strange symbol drawn in chalk surrounded by unlit torches sat.
They set him down in the center of the circle and began to utter strange, ancient tones he didn’t understand, the unlit torches igniting into bright, orange flames seemingly all on their own, and before Nugget knew it, he would come face-to-face with God.
What most imagined as a holy spirit was in reality an ancient, malevolent beast, one who only wanted destruction and bloodshed, bloodshed that it could only achieve through a vessel.
Him.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) Cindy didn’t get much time to drown in her own self despair as the sound of the closet door opening and closing was heard.
She looked up, expecting it to be the janitor coming in to grab something, only to find the silhouette of a boy, one with blonde hair, unfocused eyes and a lean figure.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out who it was, and the moment it did her already sour mood became worse.

Sighing, Lily returned to lying on her back, still not looking at Billy but clearly acknowledging that he was there.
“Yes, actually. You did.”
Billy furrowed his brows, a look of confusion now donning his face. Noticing this, Lily sighed again, sitting up on the bed and finally looking at the younger twin.
“Billy… you said earlier that me, you and the kid all made a great team.” She started.
“Well, yeah. That’s true isn’t it?” Billy asked, tilting his head to the side.
“I mean, yeah. But I think you’re forgetting someone. Someone who also helped us out with our plan.”
Billy raised an eyebrow, now more confused than ever.
“Penny? I mean yeah she was helpful but-”
“I meant Nugget you idiot!” Lily snapped, catching the boy off guard.

Summary
Despite his displeasure at having to eat another one of these god forsaken fruits, he unfortunately didn’t have much of an option. It was either that or he died from salmonella by eating the raw chicken that’s been sitting there for over a week.
With a sigh, Kid grabbed the ripest looking apple from the fridge before shutting it. Examining the fruit for a moment for any bruises, he found none. Wasting no more time, he brought the apple to his mouth and began to eat it.
Its taste was sour, as if the apple had been drenched in citric acid. He didn’t like the taste, not one bit, but he continued to stomach it regardless.
At the very least, the fruit did its job well enough. It filled him up and distracted him from his own warring thoughts.
At least now he could focus on things other than his own mental turmoil. Such as the crickets chirping outside, or the soft hum of the fridge, or the bug-eyed teenager standing outside his window…

“Why can’t you just do it yourself?” Kid questioned, confused. Nugget gave him a deadpan look.
“Did Nugget’s goo-curing friend lose function in both of his eyes? Surely you can see the mutated Lily currently sleeping in Nugget's lap and preventing him from doing it himself.”

Hit with a sudden rush of adrenaline, Lily stood in the stranger’s arms, letting out labored breaths as she tried to calm down.

Lily blinked.

It sounded so…
Looking up at her savior, her eyes widened upon the familiar sight of a tall blonde-haired boy in a bright orange suit. One which even with the cat-themed domino mask dawning his face, Lily could never possibly mistake.
“Nugget?!”
“Pretty Lily?!”

Summary
They made it sound so simple, and maybe it was, but for a kid who’s spent his whole life carrying out the most depraved tasks for the sickest of people, being expected to act normal was frightening for him, as pathetic as that was to admit.
It was for this reason that Kid actually considered turning down the offer, but that idea was quickly squashed when he saw their expressions and realized how much they wanted this. Kid was a lot of things but he wasn’t heartless, and Billy and Lily were one of the few kids he formed a genuine connection with that went beyond simple pragmatism, the idea of letting them down just felt wrong to him.
So, despite his reservations, Kid agreed, and here he was, standing on the doorstep of Lily and Billy’s home.
