Summary
What if Chimney didn't just punch Buck? What if he was so blinded by his own rage and desperate need to find Maddie that he injures Buck far deeper than a single punch? Buck had come back to LA. It had been just over six months. They had accused him of planning to sue the station, which was a lie. He knew the three people that had given the lawyer all the information. He’d had surgery and was starting his own business. The only people he wanted to see were Eddie and Christopher. Buck wasn’t ready to let the Diaz’s go just yet. He had to know what Eddie believed and how would they move forward, if they could.

Eddie and Chris rush back to LA immediately after hearing the news about Bobby. When Helena and Ramon find out, they throw a fit, blowing up Eddie’s phone with texts and calls. They lambaste Eddie for being irresponsible in taking Chris out of state for an ‘old work colleague’s’ funeral. Chris overhears and tells off his grandparents once and for all.

“She’s not an object.” Buck argued, jumping when Doug slapped his hand on the wall by his face. “Sh- she’s not a po- possession.”
“She’s mine.” Doug growled. “You clearly need a reminder.”
“Ho- how did you f- find me?” Buck asked, swallowing thickly.
“It’s almost cute that neither you or Maddie thought I would have a tracker in her car.” Doug grinned wickedly. “I gave her a reminder about why she shouldn’t cross me. Now I’m here to give you one.”
“Wh-” Buck grunted from the fist that was punched into his stomach, dropping him to his knees.
OR
When Buck takes off after Maddie gives him her keys, he stops in Virginia Beach to think about his next move. He didn't expect Doug to follow him, or find him. He doesn't expect be thinking he didn't want to die at 18 in a random motel room because his brother-in-law wanted him out of the way. When he somehow survives, he runs. He runs for years before finally feeling safe and loved and ready to just live again.
