“Wano Fighting Fish,” Mihawk says easily. He lets himself look. Decent musculature, no obvious signs of injury or malnutrition or otherwise ill health, but- pale. Sluggish, for all that he’d tried lashing out. Hair grown out longer than it used to be, and almost certainly not by choice. The jagged-edged broadsword decoration sticking up from the bottom of the bowl feels particularly insulting. “A pod of them has regularly migrated past my family’s island since I was a lad.”
“Here in the East Blue? My, what do you want to bet that’s where this fish came from! And here I thought he must have gotten lost and wandered over from the other side of the globe!”
The young mer again bares his teeth.
Shut up Kuina, I don’t get lost!

A great many pirates are whooping and hollering, their well known and well liked little brother now sitting upon the folded arm of a massive being, the Ancient Giant known as Little Oars Jr. The young man is eagerly chatting with his much larger friend, and yet, when a faint sound hits his ears, he stops mid-word.
He looks around.
Stands.
Squints into the distance.
Smiles impossibly wider, once he spots the incoming, airborne figure.

It’s a long dive towards the Red Force and Big Top, and an unknown third ship sailing with them, the figurehead of a duck topped by a chef’s white hat. Marco should probably examine it more, as he approaches, but- Well. It’s been a long few weeks of flying. Gliding as much as possible and napping on the wing have only done so much, and this is easily the most exhausted Marco has ever felt as he lets out one loud, piercing shriek to alert the pirates below to his presence.
And then he collides with the Red Force’s mainsail.

“But you understand that you aren’t dreaming.”
“I understand that I’m not dreaming,” Hunter affirms. “Because if I was dreaming" - and he has to say it, because his palisman has haunted this entire conversation, and he'll probably haunt Hunter for a lot longer than that - "if I was dreaming, then Flapjack would be here.”
Darius inhales sharply.
Hunter considers apologizing, but it seems pointless. Darius knows exactly how much Flapjack had meant to him.
“Oh, little one,” Darius says, more gently than Hunter’s ever heard. “If I hug you, will that make it worse?”
Hunter unburies himself from his shirt. “No,” he says. “Please.”
Darius hugs him.

Summary
Within the woods, Darius can finally hear a loud rustling getting closer and rapidly approaching their location. Eberwolf shifts, sharp teeth outgrowing their mouth and sticking out in different directions. Darius morphs one of his arms into a sickle, keeping it at the ready in case of a fight.
The moment it finally bursts from the trees and into their clearing, they’re all ready to strike. The unknown variable however, trips over a stray root just before and ends up stumbling and falling to the ground. Darius catches sight of an all too familiar yellow outfit with blonde hair and immediately reverses his transformation. His hand shoots out— warning Raine and Eberwolf not to strike— and they both freeze in place.
The Golden Guard lays before them, shaking violently and struggling to so much as sit up with how badly his arms tremble. However upon realizing he’s not alone, he nearly throws himself on his back and scrambles, head wildly snapping to each and every one of them. His eyes are filled with absolute terror and it pains Darius to see it.
(Or, Post-Hollow Mind, Darius, Raine, and Eberwolf find Hunter in the woods. They deal with the aftermath of Hunter finding out the truth about his so-called uncle.)

Summary
Sanji hears the explosion in the early evening. It's not very close — somewhere on the island, for sure, but not close enough to shake the house itself. He tilts his head towards it, pauses for a moment from slicing scallions, but doesn't pay it much more mind than that.
Things explode all the time, around Big Mom and her family. So long as they're nowhere near him or anything important to him, Sanji does his best not to think about it. That's not his place.
It becomes his problem when, five minutes later, Pudding shoulders open the door to his rooms, anger licking off her like flames. Sanji carefully places his knife to the side and turns to face her. She crowds him against the counter, glaring.
"Did you know about this?" she demands in a hiss, leaning forward. “Are you in on whatever hairbrained scheme they're trying to pull off right now? Do you have fucking contact with them?"
In a slightly different world, Sanji is made even more his mother's son.

Summary
Normally on nights like these, Nojiko would hang out the red blanket on the branches to dry. It was her sign to Genzo that Nami was home, so he wouldn’t come and check up on her like he was in the habit of doing in the evenings.
Nojiko should put it up now; but she hesitated. Yes, Nami was home, but this wasn’t her sneaking in in the dead of night. Everyone knew about it. And Nojiko had seen the look on Genzo’s face when Nami had arrived at the docks, accompanied by an unfamiliar Fish-Man instead of her usual escort. She wasn’t sure if even his determination to get Nami to abandon her mission would keep him away right now.
Nojiko couldn’t blame him. Her heart had stopped too, when she’d seen Nami, pale with pain and cradled in the arms of the enormous Fish-Man who had walked into their town.

“Arlong is my brother,” Jinbe repeated slowly, “But Nami is your sister.”
Oh, Nojiko realized. He was asking her because she understood all of it. Everything that had been done to Cocoyasi on her side, and what it meant to have a sibling you couldn’t protect from the world on his.
