After the Christmas argument about Harry's Firebolt, Hermione decides that she's not putting up with the boys' sulking anymore, and she's going to do something about it. What happens next is a testament to the strong bonds forged through people actually talking to each other, the desperation involved in keeping your best friend alive and in one piece, and the desire to build a better, safer world for him to live in, no matter what the objections from the adults.
In other words, the risk in manipulating things to create child-soldiers is that they will decide that you, too, are also something to protect themselves against.
Revised, Edited, and Rewritten: After a lot of feedback about how the writing got better as this fic went on, I've been taking a break, not just to have the burn-out breakdown from IRL work, but also to rewrite some of the earlier chapters (mostly 1-5) hoping to improve on what was already there, and add things I wish I'd thought of the first time.

Izuku used his shirt to blow his nose and nodded. He got out of the chair when she beckoned him over and crawled into her lap.
I always thought you’d take after your daddy.” Inko pressed a kiss into his soft curls. “I never thought you’d be like me .”
“What?” Izuku squinted at her, disbelieving.
She pushed his hair back from his face. “Mommy doesn’t have a quirk either.”
“You do so have a quirk! Mommy has Pull.”
Inko closed her eyes and looked within herself. Part of her was afraid that she’d let her connection go dormant, but the Force responded to her as eagerly as it ever had; maybe even moreso.
“No, baby.” She whispered into Izuku’s ear. “That’s just what I tell people.”

Nines disconnected his facial expression before his (deviant) feelings revealed anything to his infuriating partner as his processor raced through dozens of retorts. Of course, he was concerned. It was stated right there in the email… This was a large-scale social event, which he had already indicated would be his first… Why should he have been expected to know the ridiculous social customs of humans… What did Reed mean by 'even Connor'… Why should it affect him if Connor is dating that technician… No, he was not inferior—he was the newest…
And Reed was just staring expectantly at him, growing more amused by the second. Nines wanted, no needed, him to stop.
"I only ask because I am not certain my significant other would be interested in such an event."
The detective froze, eyes wide — a blessing since Nines had a similar reaction, internally preconstructing how to fake a system update right now and get out of this conversation. What had he done?

So, it didn’t start out like this.
Alfred would scoff at the statement, about how Bruce was trying to justify the whole situation to himself. It had started out as a simple design, black everything with black outlines and black hood. It got a little more intense as the world went on, got wind of his ghost on the streets, and became scared of The Bat . So Bruce got a little more creative with it, Alfred and him had a good laugh over the name, the scare, and Alfred had a vicious streak of humor that he had passed onto his ward-
So now the suit had a visible bat-theme, an insignia to drape in the shadows and to paint across the streets of Gotham.
It only took a year into the whole charade of heroism for Bruce to overhear a conversation between some goons- some low level thug hired by the Riddler this week- about nothing at all pertaining to what the hell the Riddler was doing in the sewers but instead:
“ The Batman can fly, you know, I’ve seen his wings.”
