Summary
“He didn’t deserve to keep you.” Eddie whispers into his ear. “Fuck him for not telling you his intentions in the first place. Fuck him for not caring about what you love. And fuck him for never treating you the way you deserved.”
Buck lets out a singular sob, his fingers clutching the back of Eddie’s pink button up. “I don’t even know what I deserve anymore,” he whispers wetly.
"I do."

Summary
Eddie’s breath hitches on the other end, not like a laugh, like something different. Sort of like pain. Buck feels one of the tears make its way in a line down to his chin.
“Bad thinking?” Eddie whispers. Like he understands, like the bad thinking has afflicted him recently too.
“Yeah, bad thinking, y’know, the uh…” he lets out a rough laugh, a spurt of an ugly thing, “the whole me being an unlovable, horrible, annoying burden who doesn’t deserve anything good and probably won’t ever get it.”
or: Buck can't sleep, but Eddie can't either.

Summary
“Eds, we don’t have to unpack this stuff right now. We can take a break. We’re off for a few more days, let’s slow down, okay?”
Eddie grimaces. He moves quietly, pulling out a chair at the kitchen table like he doesn’t want to make any noise, doesn’t want to bother anyone. Buck’s heart aches for him.
Or: Buck lends his loft to Bobby and Athena after the fire, subsequently moving in with Eddie in the aftermath of Christopher leaving for Texas. Healing begins, emotions are felt, and codependency rears its sweet, sweet head.

Summary
Peter was still in awe of the two men in front of him. They were him, but not him, all at the same time. Now that the stakes were gone and the battle was over, he had time to just look at them. These two selfless guys, just sitting in front of him in his room. They had been through things, lost people, lived their lives similar to his. He scrubbed a hand over his face.
“Gah, that’s really-” he sighed, “that’s really nice of you. I don’t know, um. You guys can crash here since you need a place to stay. I can take the floor. Or something.”
Peter 2 drew his mouth in another tight line. “We’ll make it work. Thanks, kid.”

Summary
“You fucked him,” Buck says, easy as two plus two.
“I mean—” and Eddie cuts himself off immediately. He doesn’t know if correcting Buck and saying he fucked me is the best course of action at this point.
Buck stares, almost hopeful, as if expecting Eddie to follow it up with a negative on the accusation. I mean, that’s not what happened or, I mean, that’s clearly lotion on the bed, dumbass. Buck stares and stares, and the hope withers and dies, and he finally lets out a short, disbelieving laugh that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
“Jesus, Eddie. So what— what, you fuck men now? Were you even gonna tell me?”
Or, Eddie sleeps with the Boston firefighter, and Buck takes it about as well as you'd expect. What's a little roughhousing between friends, anyway?

Summary
He wanted Eddie’s anger. His rage, every ounce of his pain. Because he was the one Eddie was mad at. He was the one that deserved to be punished. The beast in his head, in his chest, the one waiting just behind his teeth, wanted the feeling of Eddie’s fists against his jaw, his spit against his cheeks, their shared blood mingling.
The hideous side of Buck wanted Eddie to break his ribs and beat him black and blue and cut him to pieces, because it would feel like salvation. Like being whole. It’s like a slap in the face, the way a thought notched in the base of Buck’s brain stem screams that it would’ve felt like love. Because then, Buck realizes with startling clarity, he would’ve had something of Eddie. Something more than what he had previously allowed himself to want.
