Grian doesn't just live a boring life. He WANTS a boring life. He's worked hard to make and keep his normality. Yet one day, with no warning, he finds himself in a whimsical world of royalty, gods, and prophecies that seem to be about him.
Joined by Scar, the capable (if naive) guard, and Pearl, knight and noblewoman, he must travel across the country of Dawn to find and save the "Radiant" Princess Gem from a spell of eternal sleep. Or else the magic will fade and the kingdom will lose its light, the only source of energy and safety it has.
If that wasn't complicated enough, the magic seems to be alive. And Grian is the only person who can hear it calling.

After the musical number in episode 8, Caine doesn’t immediately leave. He sticks around to watch the circus members enter the portal. Who knew an extra couple seconds of existing in a space could completely change the course of a story?
Pomni really just wants everyone to be happy. Apparently, she wants it badly enough to be “hired” as Caine’s helper. Dear lord.

“Guess you’re with me, then.” Scar’s eyes twinkled with excitement. Maybe this guy wasn’t so scary, after all. “Do you have a uniform yet? No? No problem. I’ll show you the ropes, no problem at all. Right this way, new friend!”
Grian reluctantly followed Scar out of the room, gaping around at the huge halls and extravagant decor. Everything around him looked otherworldly. He wasn’t entirely sure that he wasn’t dreaming. Or in a coma. Or he was having the most vivid hallucination in the world.
Was he in the world? Maybe he had died and this was the afterlife. Maybe the universe had glitched and thrown him into another dimension.
