He clears his throat. Annabeth’s face burns as she realizes she’s been ogling him for likely an entire minute. She lets out a squeak before she turns around, gluing her eyes back to the photos on his wall. Something safe to look at.
“You’re allowed to look,” he says. He sounds amused, like he’s teasing her.
“No, I’m pretty sure I’m not.” Her voice is an octave higher than usual. He lets out a laugh. She does not let her gaze stray from the wall.//
Annabeth and Percy have been dating for about a week. Annabeth has absolutely no clue what she's doing.

A Forward by the Scholar Zuyen:
It has been a long upheld truth of our great nation that after the twin falls of the disgraced Fire Lord Ozai and Princess Azula, and their subsequent imprisonments, neither of the two ever regained contact with our well-respected Fire Lord Zuko. While Fire Lord Zuko ensured the humane holding conditions of his estranged father and sister immediately after his ascension to the throne, he reportedly never saw a need to continue communications with them. Before writing this book, my answer to such an obvious statement would have been, "Blasting flames—well of course he didn't!" Now, though, my answer would be quite different. But best leave that til later.
Fire Lord Zuko, when questioned about such matters, only ever gave one answer in response, saying: “A true leader has no need for snakes and scoundrels. Dragons are far superior.”
Given his far more professional reply, it is no wonder that he was the fire lord and I am a less-than-humble scholar.

Summary
Once he’d drawn the connection between the boy and his wife, Odysseus couldn’t help but notice the rest of the similarities. The dark curl of his hair, the small divot between his brows as he observed him in return.
It had been months since he’d last seen any child, and that age-old mix of guilt and longing returned with a vengeance. He would see Telemachus in all of them, imagining his smile or his laughter in place of theirs. He’d missed too much. That this child would remind him of his wife in any capacity left him feeling like the air had been punched out of him.
Odysseus tore his gaze back to Circe with herculean effort, trying and failing to ignore the familiar pain taking root in his chest.
Or, still reeling from the loss of his men, Odysseus ends up on a mysterious island, inhabited by a volatile witch and her favourite apprentice. The child is unnervingly familiar, with clever eyes and a penchant for insulting strangers. More than that, the stakes to get home just got significantly higher.

The screaming stopped as suddenly as it began. Telemachus held his breath, praying fervently that whatever monster had come across them wouldn’t notice him in the tree, would keep moving.
A new figure stepped into his line of sight, blocking the view of the corpse beneath him. Instead, Telemachus locked eyes with a woman, bathed in golden light. Flowing robes draped across her limbs, moving unnaturally against the wind. Glowing bands hugged the length of her forearms, matching chains weaving in and out of her dark hair.
Her painted lips curved into a smile as she tilted her face up towards him.
“Hello, little one. Are you lost?”
Or, The fates lead Telemachus to Circe's island mere weeks after the end of the Trojan War when raiders rip him from the shores of Ithaca. He is plagued with dreams of soldiers and storms far out of reach, until a cryptically familiar stranger arrives in search of his missing men.

“Why don’t you just ask around?” she asked him. “Heroes have stories and people are always eager to tell them. I’m sure any of the Greeks could tell you more about him.”
“It’s not a bad idea,” Jordan added. “It would be nice knowing exactly why he was part of the prophesied Seven. I know the Venus girl had sorcery and the Vulcan boy obviously had power over fire. But why Jackson? Just because they took a boat?”
Despite raising him on a shield, Romans don't know much about Percy Jackson, or even the Greeks in general. As the Legion attempts to recover from the wars, they find out there is far more to the Son of Neptune then they originally thought, and learn quite a few things about themselves along the way.

The rest of those things, sure, but he's pretty damn sure he isn't stupid.or - hiccup has had the longest day known to man and really isn't in the mood to now listen to some random guy rant to him about his global domination plans. he does something about it. it is not at all a good idea

“You know what you’re doing, right?” Teddy asked with a spark in his eyes and Kate shook out the long sleeves of Billy’s sweatshirt just enough to cover the heels of her hands before grabbing the mug again, a drop sloshing over the edge and landing on the sleeve. Kate swore but Teddy shrugged as though it were no big deal. “You’re totally playing Elle Woods.”

The woman, Anakin’s mom, raises a shaky hand to press against her lips.
She used to kiss his temple, Anakin remembers, and the sand engrained in both his skin and the cracks in her lips would scratch against each other.
Anakin wants her to kiss his temple, wants to feel the grit of sand scratching against his skin.
She moves first, or maybe he does. Or maybe the two of them spur into motion at the same time, like engines on a podracer.

Draco Malfoy has searched for his betrothed his entire life, guided only by the minuscule clues his parents revealed to him. in his fifth year of Hogwarts, he'd found nothing. Instead, he had a growing awareness of Harry Potter - the biggest pain in the arse in the universe - and a new class he did not sign up for. Intercultural Relations, a class designed to force him into an awareness of a world he never intended to interact with. He had no desire to play Twister, no desire to play soccer, and definetly no desire to play house with Potter and fifty of his closest friends.
He was lucky Draco cared about his grades, he wouldn't be caught dead in this disgusting cess-pool of a basement if he didn't. The Chamber of Secrets was an infection waiting to happen, no matter how objectively cool it was.

He rolls his eyes and dips his fingers in the filling tub. Annabeth can't stop herself from staring — his skin all but shimmers as the water glides up his forearms, and it's in moments like these that she really sees Percy for what he is: the son of a god. He blooms under the water's touch, a flower unfurling its petals for the sun, and the cuts that litter his arms fade away as if they were never there.
When she looks at him like this, she can pretend like he'll never die. That in two weeks, she won't be holding on to his lifeless body.
"Is this good enough?" Percy stretches, shaking his arms as if to prove a point. "You, on the other hand, actually look like a piece of shit."
"You really have a way with words, Jackson. Can you hear how hard my heart is pounding?"
or, Annabeth Chase has spent so much of her life thinking that her best friend was going to die. She doesn't really know what to do now that he's alive.
