That was how she and Cait had always been, two sides of a coin- like dawn and dusk, a burning coal on ice. It was caustic and cutting and made them feel impossibly alive, drawing them together like luna moths to a lit match.
It wasn’t love, not the kind Ekko and Jinx had- that Vi knew for certain. No, she and Cait weren’t like that; they’d never be. Vi wasn’t writing her love letters from the garden. Cait wasn’t pinning a lock of her hair to the inside of her coat.
Vander called it repartee. Ekko called it a cosmic connection. Jinx called it “shut up and kiss already,” and Vi always insisted that she would never be fool enough to try and kiss Caitlyn Kiramman. Two matches together only made a stronger fire, and their lives were dangerous enough as it was.
But they kept coming back to the flickers, risking their wings against the flame.

_The heist at Jayce's apartment doesn't go as planned. Powder mysteriously falls unconscious and the gang receives a grim message from the future. "Save Powder, do not let Jinx be born".
