Will poorly hides his smile. “Turn to the right.”
“I’m sorry, I’m just… lost. Lost in your eyes.”
Will doesn’t fall for it; although, he leans forward to his easel and hides his face, so Mike can’t tell if he has. “To the right, please, Paladin.”
Mike models for Will. Will paints Mike. (Basically, Byler being happy because they, Will especially, deserve it, and I love them both dearly)

“Look,” Will says, turning fully on the pallet to face Mike, one hand reaching down for the rough wood to find purchase and ground him. “Do you-, do you want to show me. Like-, like want to practice?”
Mike’s eyes widen but he doesn't say anything.
“Sorry, stupid idea, just wanted to help.” Will is trying to gather the words back up from the air between them and into his mouth.
“I never thought it was stupid.” Mike says, so quietly it's not much more than an exhale. “I suggested it first.” He adds, like it's a secret.
Will grips the pallet harder. “Show me. I really do want to help.”
Mike bites his lip a sec, and Will thinks he's going to say no, but then Mike's darting forward and pressing his lips firm and quick against Will’s. It's barely a kiss. Not romantic. Not enough to leave a scar. Will bleeds anyway.

It’s quiet for a few minutes, long enough for Will to think that Mike’s fallen back asleep. But then he speaks again, his voice a low, conspiratorial whisper: “Hey, Will?”
Will hums absently, half asleep himself. He’s always more tired after he gets emotional, and Mike’s so warm.
“I know it’s, like, not the greatest circumstances,” Mike says, “but I like this. Being- there for each other, I guess.”Maybe Will's crazy, but he's starting to think Mike might like him back.

“Do you know something?” Jonathan asked.
Silence for a few moments, then “I might.” Robin’s face was still unreadable. “Do you know something?”
Jonathan nodded slowly. “I might as well.”
They both looked away again, Jonathan’s mind racing. He swallowed hard, not really sure what else to say as he slowly turned to Robin again. She was doing the same, and they looked away quickly.
The silence was deafening, but the realisation was even louder. Jonathan nearly choked as Robin gasped, and they both leaped to their feet. The desk chair Robin was sitting in rolled away, while Jonathan’s fully fell back as they pointed accusingly at each other.
“You know!” Jonathan blurted out.
“And you know!” Robin shot right back.

El’s still talking, animated, but Mike’s eyes aren’t on her at all. They’re locked on him. Dark, unreadable, jaw clenched. It sends something white-hot and dizzying through Will’s chest.

“Well, can you think out loud?” Will gripes, sounding tense and unhappy even as he settles back against Mike’s chest. “You’re making me nervous.”
Mike laughs a little. “I’m not sure I should; I don’t want to freak you out.”
“Mike,” and Will sounds supremely unimpressed, “I just took control of three Demos, two of which were miles away, and proceeded to snap their limbs and kill them with my mind. Not only that, I just told you that I did it by drawing strength, in large part, from being your friend. You’re worried about freaking me out? Really?”
“Yeah, and I’m the guy who watched you do it and thought that it was the hottest thing I’d ever seen in my life, so what does that say about me?”
There’s a long, shocked silence.
“See, this is why I don’t think out loud,” Mike jokes weakly.

Mike falls a little bit more in love with Will because, at this point, who wouldn't? He just saved Mike's life, after all. Unfortunately, the others don't quite see it that way, and it's getting to Will a little bit. Mike intends to remedy that.

He can’t imagine that anything about this development is good news to Joyce, who has been fighting tooth and nail to keep Will uninvolved since they were thirteen years old. No such luck. The Upside Down clings to Will like a moth drawn to a light, tugging and lapping at his heels with whispers of the impossible. Born to be steeped in magic. Mike could have warned Joyce years ago. Will Byers isn’t the kind of person that can ever be fully walked away from.
