In some sick way, Mafuyu wonders if this is the closest she will ever get to truly becoming the doctor she’s always been told she could be. She holds the crafting knife in cold, detached, unshaking hands the way she’s always been taught. Like a scalpel. Like a surgeon. Except the only sick thing here is her empty, overfilled heart.
