Summary

Lan Xichen moves to take his leave, the door to the jingshi already open when Lan Wangji asks, “What should I call him?”
His brother turns back, a few snow flurries catching in his hair and instantly melting. “His name is Wei Ying.”

"Shufu! No! Please don't!". Wangji seemed to finally break his silence to utter those hoars, urgent words.
"I will take his place." Lan Qiren stated firmly, promptly ignoring his nephew.
“Fine, I shall allow it. Bind him.” As soon as the command is given soldiers swarm all around Qiren, forcing him to his knees and chaining his wrists behind his back. Somewhere in the background Wangjis haunted cries can be heard, bur Qiren willfully ignores them. He jolts in surprise as a metal collar clasp shut around his neck. Horror crawls through him when he cannot transfer his Qi through his body, only just realizing that his cultivation must be sealed. Exhaustion crashes over him now that he can no longer take power from his golden core. He would’ve surely met the ground face first if it weren’t for the steady hands on his shoulders. He looks up weakly, and Wen Xu barks a laugh. Lan Qirens eyes widen as he sees his precious Wangji in a very similar predicament to his own.
“Why? You said…” He rasps out weakly. Wen Xu grins sadistically, “I didn’t say anything Lan Qiren, it was you who assumed.”or:

“Hey, Jiang Cheng, we have been walking around for nearly half a shichen. Are you really sure this is the right way?”
Jiang Cheng whips around to glower at the youth who just spoke—Wei Wuxian, his shixiong that is still so strangely carefree, trailing after Jiang Cheng with his hands behind his head and a large goofy grin on his lips, as if they aren’t currently lost in the woods while night-hunting with a few of the other younger Yunmeng Jiang disciples.
They don’t even have a clear idea of what the creature they are night-hunting is yet.
“And who’s fault is that?” Jiang Cheng snaps, storming over to Wei Wuxian. “If you didn't get distracted with something by the riverbed, would we be in this state right now?!”
Wei Wuxian raises both his hands in a placating manner and gestures with his chin to the white silk handkerchief with blue embroidery of clouds, looped around a tree branch to the side of the trail. “Relax, relax, we aren’t completely lost yet, Jiang Cheng. Don’t you remember crossing that some time ago?”
