It's late October of 1987—over a year since the death of Vecna—and Will Byers' trauma anniversary is steadily approaching. When you spend every day with someone, it's easy to notice even the tiniest of abnormalities in their behavior, and Mike Wheeler is no exception to this phenomenon. Will begins to feel haunted again, and Mike seems to be the only thing keeping him afloat in this vast sea of dredged up memories. Everyone chalks Will's melancholia up to the dreaded November 6th approaching, but could it be something more?

Summary
One ordinary night, Will experiences an event that completely changes his life and the way he sees things. Tired, hurt, and unable to see any light at the end of the tunnel he feels trapped in, he decides that leaving Hawkins is the only way to heal—even if it means doing what Lonnie wants rather than what he himself desires.

He barely managed to lay eyes on her before hands clamped down onto his arms and shoulders, and chaos erupted around them once again. Guns flew up as fists were thrown, and distantly, Mike heard his name among cries and other yelling, but when he lunged toward his friends, the hands on him tightened, preventing him from running to them.
It took him another second to realize they weren't just holding him back. They were pulling him away.

Summary
After the end of the world, Hawkins is trying to move on. Some people are better at it than others.
Will Byers laughs easier now. Sleeps through the night more often. Works part-time at a record store downtown and is slowly learning how to live outside of survival.
Mike Wheeler isn’t. He’s stuck somewhere between grief and obsession, trapped in the quiet aftermath of everything they lost. And the worst part is that nobody seems to notice. Nobody except Will.
When Mike starts getting pulled back into Will’s orbit, every interaction begins to feel dangerous. Too important. Too consuming. Then Mike finds himself wanting things he shouldn’t want anymore: Will’s attention. Will’s trust. Will all to himself.
And when someone else starts getting close to Will, something inside Mike finally snaps. After all, love has always made people do terrible things.
Mike Wheeler would do anything for Will Byers. Unfortunately for everyone else, he means it.
