Summary
In his years of piracy, Benn Beckman had visited myriad islands and met even more kids whose eyes sparkled when they saw pirates. Luffy was different. For starters, Beckman had stayed on Dawn long enough to watch the kid grow up, and had continued to do so from afar, long after he had left—through letters from Makino or newspaper clippings.
And for all he had shared with Luffy, and all he hadn't, Beckman cherished one moment above all others. When the sun closed its eyes and it was just Beckman and Luffy for a walk at the end of the day.
It seemed fitting that this was also his last memory with Luffy.

When Nagi started talking to Isagi, Reo didn’t think anything of it. They were on the same team, and it only made sense that teammates would converse and be civil.
But then Nagi started warming up with Isagi instead of with Reo. He’d pass to Isagi during practice. He’d sit at the same table with Isagi and his friends during lunch.
Almost in an instant, Reo felt like he was second place. He watched as his best friend formed a new friendship, one that seemed almost as strong as their own. And soon, Nagi was talking with the other members of Isagi’s friend group. He was added to a groupchat between them, while Reo was left out, waiting on the sidelines as Nagi drifted further and further away from him.
Until Reo could hardly reach.
