“It was an act of pity on both of them when Kerry offered for V to stay at the villa for a while. V didn’t want to be alone in the space he shared with Johnny (and he can’t escape his own skin) and Kerry is unwilling to have him far away. V spends the next few days in bed, sleeping through his haze of pain medicine and grief, and Kerry goes about his business like he doesn’t have a dying young mercenary groaning between his sheets. He argues with his manager and agents, he composes in his home studio, he crawls into bed in the wee hours of the morning and holds V so close that were he any weaker the tightness of their embrace would have shattered him.”
