“You know Coran, there’s a story on back on earth about a man named Odysseus. As he was traveling to get home from war he and his men had to stop on an island filled with these one-eyed creatures that wanted to kill and eat them. He tricks one and tells them his name is Nobody. After he pokes it eye out, the creatures’ friends asked him who did it, and all he could say was Nobody and Odysseus was able to escape. It took years, but Odysseus did manage to get home. I don’t have a name like Odysseus did, I’m a copy of someone. A fake who’s only identity literally means ‘clone’. Kuron is a project owned by the Galra. But Shiro is a person, a person I’m not. So, until I can figure out who I am, I’ll simply be Nobody. And maybe someday, I’ll find my way home too.”

Post presentation, Steve has yet to go into heat. The enormous weight of his parents’ expectations, Upside Down flavored night terrors, and the crippling void of loneliness—he’s only just beginning to unravel—don’t help this.
At the behest of Dr. Owens, Steve enlists the help of one Eddie Munson, newly souped up alpha riding high on demo-venom, to help him out.
He just hopes he doesn’t embarrass himself too much when Eddie’s addicting scent finally gets the slick to pour.

Summary
Shortly after that Christmas in 1983, Chief Hopper catches Steve Harrington wandering the woods with a bat in his hands, patrolling the area behind his house. In that moment, Hopper decides to try and help Steve cope with what they all went through in any way he can. In doing so, he ends up noticing a few things.
It's amazing how one act of kindness can highlight the difference between family and blood.
Or
Hopper takes Steve under his wing shortly after season 1, Eddie might just get to graduate, and Henry Creel died before the show ever began. This is how things might change as a result.

The man- now unmistakably Eddie Munson- opened his mouth as if to say something, choosing to instead launch himself at Steve. There was a second where Steve thought he was being attacked, knocked off kilter, but then Eddie’s arms were around him, burying his face in Steve’s hair. Half-collapsing beneath the weight, Steve guided them both to the floor, pulling Eddie closer instinctively. He felt thinner than he used to, the skin of his back littered with scars.
“Eddie,” Steve murmured disbelievingly, holding him as he shook like a leaf in Steve’s arms. “You’re not dead.”
Eddie laughed, despite the trembling. He clutched onto Steve’s shirt like a lifeline.
“Yeah,” he managed, voice high and vulnerable. “Sorry to disappoint.”
