Summary
Connor didn't know what he was looking at.
His optical sensors, far superior to any human eye, meticulously processed the image before him. It was quadrupedal, approximately 0.4 meters tall, with a squat, sturdy build. Its carapace was a vibrant, earthy green, textured like ancient bark. A small, brown seedling, complete with tiny, unfurled leaves, sprouted directly from the crown of its head. This was not a known species. Not in the CyberLife database, nor in any global animal registry accessible via his internal servers.
Or, Connor gets isekai'd into Sinnoh and tries to pass as a human, which would be easier if he didn't bleed blue and his first friend wasn't a very bitey Turtwig.

Summary
Shroud was a bad man. He took what he wanted whenever he wanted and never thought about the repercussions—relying on his probabilities and calculations to ensure success. If it wasn’t a guarantee, then he would make it a 100%. He was relentless, cunning, and wicked smart.
But “Robbie” Robertson or Astral was worse. Or at least that’s what Robert told himself. Sure, Shroud made him kill when he didn’t want to. He had physically hurt him countless times; the scars that littered his body were a reminder every day of what it was like to get on his bad side. However, Robbie was verbally aggressive, neglectful, and a barely there father. He would reprimand him for the smallest of things, and when he was hurt, it was always the words “get up” uttered out of his mouth.
---
Or Robert is basically kidnapped and raised by Shroud to be a human machine. But when he fails to get the Pulse the second time, intercepted by the Z-team and is taught what it truly means to get on Shroud's bad side. Now he has to navigate a life with his emotions running rampant, all the while being entered into the Phoenix program with a bunch of ex-villains, in hopes that he may become a hero.Bookmarked by An_Enigma

ManMech was a Vtuber whose main gimmick was acting as a dorkish Mechaman impersonator. Its a known joke within his community that he's well overdue to be sued by the hero's lawyers for his burlesque parody.
Robert is just hoping that nobody makes the connection-- that they're actually the same person.

Summary
Robert Robertson the third wasn't real.
Sure, he looked real. Looked human.
He could speak and touch and do everything a regular normal person could. He wasn't extraordinary, no powers, no impressive physical prowess. He was the definition of an ordinary man.
Except that he was Mecha Man.
Oh, and he wasn't a man at all. He was The Astral Pulse, his father's greatest scientific achievement.
~~~
Or my own take on Astral Pulse Robert au.
A study in autonomy, personhood, humanity, and how having shitty narcissistic parents that see you as nothing but a tool can fuck someone up well into adulthood.
Well let's hope a band of stubborn misfit ex-villains can help with sorting out that last one.
Inspired by JUBE514's astral pulse Robert fic! It's very good so if you like this concept go read theirs!
Summary
“They put a normie in charge of a buncha of villains!?"
Why are they circling back on the villain topic? Whatever, Robert can roll with this.
“Oh yeah, so that means to get to know me, you either have to defeat my eight evil teammates,” Robert pauses, to make it seem like he is thinking, “or… you can buy–”
“I’ll do it!” ArrowRoot interrupts.
“– me a drink– what?” Robert freezes in his tracks.
ArrowRoot puffs his chest out like a peacock. Maybe a bull would be a better analogy for the guy. “Those assholes? I could totally take them on for you.”
What the fuck.
=====
Getting free drinks ends up more of a hassle than intended when a newbie hero seems to get it in his head that Robert is some ‘damsel-in-distress.’ Now Robert has to deal with some guy harassing his team, all while managing said team.
The Z-Team isn’t exactly making it easier either.
This is going to be a very long week.
(Or the one where some guy tries to defeat Robert’s seven- uh, eight evil
exsco-workers.)(NOT AN OC x CANON!)
Summary
Robert’s entire life has been defined through his presentation and his attempts to suppress and overcome it. To be an omega was to be weak, and Robert refused to be weak. Now, left with nothing but a destroyed body and a ruined legacy, he’s hit a wall. No more suppressants, and no more hero duties. That is, until a certain proposition.
As his body slowly starts to heal, in tandem with the rebuilding of his mech, he finds it harder and harder to continue suppressing- nevermind hiding- his nature. As he grows closer to the Z-Team, his secret will come closer and closer to being discovered, and his attempts to hide it will become even more desperate.
Summary
Having multiple soulmates was something romanticized in stories, but absolutely loathed in practice. Made all the more complicated by the people experiencing it. Every bond was intermingled, looped and knotted up in others. It made the connections murky, the limits hard to grasp. Unfairly proportioned, a gift to some, a curse to others.
OR
“I just..” he motions up at the MechaMan suit. “I purposely stayed away. Tried to hide away from the bond. I felt like knowing me would only put them in danger. Heroes don't live safe lives. What if one of my enemies went for them because of me?”
“How about we look at it other way.” Robert frowns “If YOUR soulmate was in danger, would you want them to stay away? Or would you want them to let you help?”
Heaven wouldn’t hurt so bad, would it?
“Well, it was the words of the Major that kept me going. Something he said at the very beginning, about how we’ll never be number one again if we don’t try. So I tried to be number one. And here I am before y’all.”
Hell, then.
Summary
A waiter glides up to them, carrying a silver tray laid with delicate looking pastries topped with swirls of white foam and spilling with tiny, glittering fish eggs. Ignoring Ray, the waiter holds the tray up to Pete.
Don’t eat anything, Ray begs him silently, chest tight with horror. He thinks of the old book of Greek myths his father had read to him, of Persephone who was condemned to the underworld because she ate a handful of pomegranate seeds. Please don’t eat anything.Or: Every year, the winner of the Long Walk is honored with a celebratory party in the nation's capital. Despite everything, this year is no different.
“Is everyone dead, Pete? Is that true? I can’t – I can’t remember what’s true,” he confesses. His thoughts and memories feel like they’ve been put through a blender, or hacked to pieces with a knife. He can’t say what’s real and what isn’t anymore, not with any great degree of certainty.
“We’re not dead,” Pete says, like that’s the only thing that matters. Maybe it is. Maybe it’s the only thing left that matters. “Okay? Me and you. We’re alive.”
“We’re alive,” Ray repeats.
Summary
A few miles out, there was a little orange light flickering. Far too big and color-saturated to be a star. Too low to the ground. Ray squinted at it, then realized that it was a fire. Once he saw that, he could make out the silhouette of what was burning: a farm house.
That’s a beacon, he thought deliriously. Untethered dream logic. He could somehow see the rising smoke through the sheets of rain, through the darkness of night. It was a signal. It was for him.
Summary
One of the main characters - the only surviving witness to a murder - has just woken from a coma. Not only is she entirely cognizant, but the first thing that the subtitles say she asks for is a lawyer.
“What are you fucking giggling about?”
The other person that’s been paying attention is Flambae. He’s right next to Robert on the couch, his arm slung over the top behind his head. One foot is propped up on the other knee, also pointing towards Robert, which has him caged in the corner by the arm rest. It’s probably some fucked-up power move. Robert has been ignoring it just to spite him.
“It’s just not how comas work,” Robert shrugs.
“Right, and you know because you’re a fucking doctor,” Flambae quips back.
“I know because I was in one, asshole.”
------
During a quiet night in, Robert realizes that his coma and injuries aren't common knowledge among Z-Team.
Most of them take the information in stride with jokes aplenty.
Flambae does not.
Summary
Robert climbs out of the smoldering wreckage of his father’s legacy only to find that he's no longer needed. Mecha Man is, of course. But Robert Robertson? Ha. No.
So he tries to piece his life back together, however hopeless a cause it may be. But then it's time to announce his--hm, not retirement. Convalescence? Close enough--and it goes just a little too well. Chase never calls in the favor with Blazer so Robert never gets the job at SDN. Purposeless, he lets himself backslide. Forces himself to focus on the suit and only the suit because it's the only way he'll ever let himself live again (as if Mecha Man was much of a life beforehand).
Then a couple assholes bust down his door because the neighbors called for a wellness check and now Robert's plans of dying in a landslide of pizza boxes will have to be put on pause.
TLDR: Robert and Z-Team fix each other. They fuck up a lot along the way.
