Sometimes Susan's grandmother was called Patience. Sometimes Susan was the granddaughter of the Other Founder, and met the Doctor on old Gallifrey. Sometimes she was respectably born, and sometimes she was respectably Loomed.
Sometimes—and this is one of those times—Susan's mother was a woman who doesn't exist yet, a soldier-turned-adventurer called Jenny.
