Summary
The realization that this is a ghost very suddenly and intensely hits Ed all at once, and he covers his eyes, keeping his space safe. He’s brave enough to peep through his fingers, and sees that the ghost has moved slightly backwards, as if they noticed Ed’s fear.
“Don’t be scared.” He hears. It’s a full voice, not hollow or booming or warbling, like Ed would expect from someone undead. It’s a familiar accent in a kind tone, and Ed’s heart lurches into his throat.
“What are you doing?” He manages to ask them.
The ghost shrugs. “I live here.” They smile— a small, sweet thing.
Ed wants to laugh. He thinks for a moment, and supposes it’s fair. “Me too.”

But it’s been a while since he’s gotten into trouble for it. He doesn’t have as much to be angry about these days, not anymore. Depressed? Possibly. Feeling like he’s wasted his life? Oh, absolutely, that’s just a fact. An accident requires that Ed awaken from cryostasis over six months early, and finds his only companion to be Stede, the ship's onboard AI. They develop an unconventional friendship, but is it possible to have more?
This is classic mutual pining with a sci-fi twist, inspired by all of my favorite stories about the nature of personhood.

“You–” Ed was struggling to parse what Stede was saying. “You’re playing your version of this song for me, right now? Like, in real time?”“Yes, Edward, that’s correct,” said Stede softly.
Ed’s brain momentarily seized up. He supposed it made sense that Stede was capable of learning a set of rules to do something like arrange and play a piece of music. There was something unnerving about this song, though. It felt, well–it felt organic . Reactive. Almost collaborative in a way. Ed was lost in the push and pull of it, until the last notes softly petered out.
“So, what did you think?” asked Stede. It sounded nervous again. Why the hell would someone program an anxiety response into a bot?

What are the odds?
Ed's had enough of the cutthroat world of salvage diving, and he's this close to leaving it all behind. But Bonnet's quest sparks an interest he hasn't felt in years, and he agrees to help the oddly charming man. Nothing to do with the fact that the Queen Anne might just be the last treasure trove Ed needs to escape his life. Definitely nothing to do with the way Bonnet's cheerful enthusiasm makes his heart skip a beat.
Together they'll hunt for the wreck... and then they'll reckon with what comes next.

Blackbeard has won every year for nearly a decade. He's planning on winning again. But after an incident with the English, he finds himself down a ship. Luckily there's guileless Captain Bonnet ready to offer his own ship for the taking. Borrowing. Yes, the borrowing.It'll be easy to convince the crew to mutiny, and Blackbeard will be sailing under his own colors again, ready to win it all. Right?

Stede Bonnet had every intention of meeting Edward Teach, just perhaps not quite like this. And Ed, he had really believed the man he'd only known as the Gentleman Pirate really had taken one look at him and decided he wasn't worth his time. It takes some time for the pair to realize who each other are, but once they do, there's nothing either of them want more than to find a way to reunite Stede's... whatever it is back with his body.
Well, Ed can think of one thing he'd want in addition to that: for Stede to remember who he is when they succeed.
