“Tell me anyway.”
“Want you to stay with me. With us, I mean. Don’t want you to leave ever.”
Charles gets it now. Arthur loves him just not in the way Charles loves him back. Arthur loves him as a companion, a dearest friend. This is how men are supposed to love each other.
“Okay,” Charles says matter-of-factly, and pulls his shirt over his head. “I won’t leave ever. Let’s get some sleep.”:::::::
Charles has a bad night with a working girl. Arthur, secretly desperately in love with him, hears it all.

Kiss is a stupid word. It doesn’t have the brutal efficiency of fuck. If you say that you have recently fucked, everyone knows what that means. Kiss, on the other hand, implies some… saccharine, disgusting little fantasy. It’s a word that conjures pictures of twee pecks on the cheek, platonic gestures of affection. It is a word that belongs to the same euphemistic category as sleeping together, as (ugh) making love. It is a word that lacks hunger, physicality, consummation.
It is not an inaccurate description of what he and Wyll do in Wyll’s tent.
Astarion discovers that some things are easier said (or involuntarily shared via an illithid parasite's psychic connection) than done.

Ed hunches like a child, but his hair and stubble is grey as a silverfish. He sounds as bitter as the tea when he says, “What did you really ask me here for, then?”

Summary
Hannibal has oriented his life this way for as long as it has been his to direct. On a day to day basis, it’s entirely adequate. He does none of these things with the intention of distracting himself. The necessity of distraction, of escapism, implies there is something from which one must escape. He is not running. He runs from no one, least of all himself.
And yet there are rooms in his mind where he must not go. Doors that are closed on purpose, cordoned off with velvet ropes and papered over with everything he has become.
Hannibal is depressed. Will invites him over for dinner.
