“We’re not doing that,” Keith mutters.
“Oh, we definitely are,” Lance replies, absolutely thrilled and, apparently, suicidal. “It’s happening! It’s happening. Don’t fight it, Keith,” he says, as though Keith isn’t going to fight this kicking and screaming all the way. “I’m gonna be the best wingman you never wanted."
Lance takes it upon himself to be Keith’s personal wingman the moment he finds out he’s into guys.
The rose? They have the entire universe to find Keith a boyfriend, and so, not all hope is lost.
The thorn? Keith’s only interested in one guy and it’s the idiot dragging him into this matchmaking hell.

"HERMIT HARBOUR'S MERMIN: A RESEARCHER'S STUDY INTO THE CURIOUS CASE OF MOON GLOWING SEA CREATURES.
Mermin, first of all, is extremely old, now obsolete terminology for creatures currently called merfolk (inclusive of mermaids and mermen).
It is specifically used for the half fish, half human looking creature that uses their singing as bait.On this coast, the term has survived the years.
It is, in fact, still used by the paranoid people of Hermit Harbour to refer to this specific myth of theirs.
Although they never as much utter a word about the beings, it is the most notable myth in town.

“That’ll be—” Manju Cookie lists off some insane price for the sip-and-half she took, and Jagae rolls her eyes at the other cookie, who giggles when he sees it.
“Har-har-har,” Jagae says, and instead digs in her pockets for something (something that's not coin) that she can repay him with. She manages to take out a sweet strawberry jelly she’d managed to get from Custard Cream’s kingdom, and she throws it to him. “There. Fair is fair.” She doesn’t look at him at first, but then she casts a glance over to him, and he's staring at the jelly in surprise, like he hadn’t expected anything.
Jagae ruffles in her clothing. She is a fair cookie, and she hates owing others anything, no matter how small. Better get it over with so it doesn’t come back to bite her later.
“Thanks,” she hears him say, as he begins eating the jelly.

NO LONGER ON HIATUS
“WHAT in the FUCK is that?” The horrified voice that carried over the general quiet chatter of the rest of the bar’s patrons came from someone near the door, but it could’ve come from any of them.
Every occupant in the large main room shared the sentiment as they stared at the man? Zombie? Thing that somehow still had orange hair clinking to it’s head shuffled through the front door. The skin on it’s arms and hands was entirely decomposed, leaving the bones to clack against each other ominously while it’s brown, leathery skin creaked with each movement. The only reason the latter was even audible was because the entire bar had gone completely silent.
“Who the hell sent a bog body here?” A woman with a mutation quirk- she had the head of an aardvark- finally recognized the body for what it was. It was a valid question- the bar wasn’t just any seedy dive bar, it was no man’s land. A place where anyone, regardless of what side of the law they fell on, could meet up with no (or at least very little) fear of attack or reprisal. Anyone who used their quirks (mutation quirks or quirks required to live excluded) or tried to start a fight was met with swift, violent consequences.

That day at the apartment, the moment everything went wrong. That was when they got themselves out of trying it again. How many did they hurt? None of them died, but what happened to others? They couldn't tell.
Powder could not shake the feeling of guilt about of her. If only her didn't try meddling with things, no one would have gotten hurt. How could she look at Ekko's eyes and tell she risked his friends' lives? That she hurt so many?
Ekko felt ashamed. He told them about it. If only he hadn't opened his mouth, that tragedy would not have happened. How could he talk to Powder again? After risking her and her siblings' lives? That, he could not do.
And their relationship became strained, distant, until there was barely none. Up to the moment they met again.

AU where Ekko and Powder met again after joining the Academy, many years since the incident, in a different Zaun and Piltover, changed by other things that happened during their time apart.

It has been seven years after the Battle of Piltover. Ekko has been chosen to be Sevika's successor in the Council once she retires—despite their many differences, the opportunity to futurely represent Zaun being an honour. However, as things settle and the need to gather and survive is no longer his forethought, he becomes overwhelmed by all the hurt he cast away over the years to be able to lead. And he needs to take a step back, in order to take a leap forward.

“Didn’t we babysit that one shifter kid for like two months?” Shouta was certain he remembered the little girl who had more or less been foisted on the pair while her parents were sailing to America to care for sick relatives.
“That was in the Edwardian era.” Izuku sounded far too amused. Whatever, when you were Shouta’s age the years tended to blur together.
“Several decades and several hundred years are two very different things.”
“Is that why it feels like several thousand since I picked you up?” Shouta snarked back with a smirk..
