"I'm... sorry?" The Wicked Villain of the Week™ was flabbergasted from where she sat on the throne.
"You had better be." Merlin scowled. "Come back in four days."
The sorceress stared blankly at him. The members of the court were looking at him like he'd grown a third head. The knights were watching in slack-jawed dumbfoundment. Gwaine looked like he was about to jump in even though he had no idea what Merlin was saying. Lancelot most definitely regretted waking up this morning, and Leon was just tired.
"I don't think you understand what's going on here," the sorceress began when she regained her composure.
"No, I don't think you understand that we have already met this week's quota for magical shit hitting the fan. As I said, come back next week. Or, you know, never, but that's always 'too much to ask'."

For clarification, he asks “Prince Wilhelm? Simon, did you just say you used to be in love with Prince Wilhelm?”
Simon doesn’t hesitate to answer.
“Oh yeah, I wanted to marry him and everything. I had one of his posters on my bedroom wall for like a year when I was 15, right before I started high school. I took it down before I started Hillerska, but I’m sure it’s still in some box somewhere. His hair is so shiny, have you ever noticed?” He asks, as if he’s not just upended Wilhelm’s entire existence.
He knows he shouldn’t let this continue, Simon’s drugged out of his mind and doesn’t know what he’s saying and none of it might even be true, so he responds with “Simon, you know that I’m Prince Wilhelm, right?”
or: when Simon has to get one of his wisdom teeth removed, Wilhelm doesn't hesitate to offer his help. It definitely has nothing to do with the fact that he's been in love with Simon for years.

Summary
Of all the ways Arthur and the knights could've found out about his magic, Merlin hadn't thought it'd be due to a sparrow. There will be a happy ending, but it's gonna take a while.
"Arthur was terrified when he saw Merlin make up his mind to jump. He put on a burst of speed, willing his body to give everything he had so he could just-reach out and….He crashed at full speed into the warlock, knocking them both out of breath, but most importantly, far away from the edge of the ravine. Merlin fought him, kicking and clawing for escape, but it was clear that whatever had fueled him for so long was gone, and eventually the kicking and punching and shouting was gone, and Merlin wept in Arthur’s arms, trembling hard.
“Sorry, so sorry, so so sorry. ‘M so sorry, Arthur,” he sobbed desperately, and Arthur held him close, heart racing and eyes wet. “I’m so sorry, please don’t burn me. I’m so sorry. I didn’ mean to, I was born with it.” Merlin cried, and Arthur shushed him gently."

"You too," he said, glancing down to where Steve was still holding his hand.
Steve let go with a sheepish smile. "Sorry."
Working in a brothel wasn't somewhere Steve ever expected to find himself, but then he'd never expected to quit his shitty corporate hell-job to apprentice as a tattoo artist. Great as it was, his apprenticeship didn't come with a pay cheque, so eating and keeping a roof over his head meant finding a job that paid actual money. Which was how he'd ended up as the night receptionist in a brothel, accidentally holding Bucky's hand, with no idea Bucky was going to turn out to be something else he'd never expected.

His date laughed. “Guess that means I’m off to a decent start,” he teased, and Grantaire’s smile faded, just slightly.
Decent starts had never really been his problem. Decent longevity was the issue he’d had with most relationships, including his most recent, which had ticked the box for longevity, but no one, himself included, would probably have used the word decent for it.
Not unless one counted screaming matches and constant fighting as decent, at least.
And he and Enjolras alone were the only ones who probably ever counted that as foreplay.

Summary
This series has been written as a collection of one-shots. All of these works happen in the same modern muggle AU.
The series will most likely be reorganized multiple times so that the first work is the earliest event in the series so that readers can follow the timeline if they choose but don't have to try and figure out where they lay in the timeline.
There will be certain works that are longer than a one-shot because I wanted to add more detail but I will always post the story when I have completed it so that there is no waiting for other chapters.
I will do my best to add warnings in notes of one-shots or notes in the chapters trauma happen in. If you are affected by reading these but want to read, please place a comment on the work/chapter and I will edit so you know what areas you have to skip and I will sum up what happens for you.

Holy fucking shit, Merlin thinks, it’s him.
“It’s you!” Arthur gasps rather theatrically, pointing at Merlin as though everyone in the room doesn’t already know who he’s talking about.
Or: Merlin gets his own hashtag on Twitter. Don't ask him how, he doesn't know. All he knows is that Arthur is out of his league, and Gwen is the best friend in the universe.

Summary
A few months ago Merlin's 10 year on and off again relationship with Will properly ended. And yes he moped for a while, but the reason that he hasn't been going out with his friends is falling head over heels for Gwaine and being caught up in an epic romance. Finally one night when Gwaine has to work late, Merlin goes to the bar and sees his friends. Who are worried about him, deeply. He proudly tells them about his new boyfriend, waiting for their excitement.
There is just one problem - they think he's made the new boyfriend completely up.
Which yes, he supposes it does sound a little far fetched that working on his history of British medicine phd Merlin would be dating a professional football player, who models underwear and is a goodwill ambassador besides. But he is! And he can prove it, or he would if the universe didn't seem to be conspiring against him.
A slapstick, cracky, fluffy story of what to do when your real life boyfriend sounds incredibly made up.

Of course, Harry Potter is going to Hogwarts, and he can't ever stay out of trouble.
