Summary
"I just need you to know," Will says quietly, and he makes himself hold Mike's gaze, "that if something happens - if I hurt you, or anyone else - it's not because I wanted to. I would never want to hurt you, Mike. Never."
The words hang between them, loaded with more meaning than Will intended.
There's a pause where all Will can hear is their breathing echoing against the storage closet's walls. The hum is more distant now, buzzing in the back of Will's mind, but the uneven inhales coming from in front of him sound louder. The breath tickling his nose (because they really are that close) feels realer.
Mike's eyes are still darting across Will's face, and Will can feel him inhale sharply. "Will, why are you so convinced you're going to hurt someone? What did Vecna show you?"
Everything, Will thinks. He showed me everything. Showed me killing you over and over until I couldn't see anything else.
Somewhere between slaying interdimensional eldritch horrors, exploding an entire dimension, and risking their lives countless times, Mike and Will find each other.

“This summer, we stick together. You and me, Byers.”
Will grinned, taking Dustin’s hand and shaking it. “You and me, Henderson.”
A rewrite of S3:
The night Dustin gets back from Camp Knowhere, he brings the Party up to the highest point in Hawkins to set up Cerebro. He thought that his friends would be excited to have him back-- even if it wasn't the most entertaining to sit on a hill and talk into a radio with no response, he thought they would at least wait for him before going home. He thought it was going to be the best summer ever.
Instead, he finds himself and the one friend that didn't leave him, Will Byers, intercepting a weird Russian transmission.
And, well... if he couldn't have the best summer ever, at least he and Will would have an eventful one.

“Hungry,” is all Mike manages to get out. Will can hear each ragged breath scuttle up and down his chest. He squints at Mike, the boy refusing to break eye contact, staring intently at Will. The emptiness from this morning is back.
Will scoots up in bed and shimmies out of his blanket cocoon, placing his hands on the sides of Mike’s arms. “Are you feeling sick?” he questions gently. Something’s not right.
Mike shakes his head and once again, opens his mouth with a brief pause before speaking. “I’m so hungry, Will.”
Mike gets a little too into the occult. After a ritual-gone-wrong, Will has to piece together a decades-old mystery to save his best friend's life.

Joyce’s scream cuts through the desolate air of Dimension X. She drops to her knees, eyes fixed on Will, who’s on all fours, head hanging, chest heaving. His hands sink into the ash as his body begins to shake, sharp and uncontrollable.
Mike darts forward. “Will?! Will!! Are you okay?!”
The others follow, fear written across their faces. Robin kneels before him, reaching out. Her voice just above a whisper.
“Will?”
Slowly, he lifts his head. Green eyes are gone—replaced by milky white orbs staring into Robin’s blue ones.
Gasps ripple through the group. This isn’t Will. The gentleness is gone. The warmth Will carried has now shifted with a cold murderous look. As if the light was drained out of him. A smirk curls across his lips.
His voice is low, chilling, yet almost tender:
“I told you… every door you leave open, I walk through.”Vecna has found his way back home.
Will was never the target. He was the way in.

Summary
This takes place after the events of Season 3. Rewriting all of Seasons 4 and 5 in my own way because the Duffer’s ending sucked ass.
With Hopper’s “death”, Joyce takes El in as one of her own and doesn’t move to California. Will and El both start having weird visions, similar but different to the ones they had before. They figure out their visions along the start of freshman year of high school, hiding this all away from the party and their parents. As the year progresses, weird things start happening. Random deaths? Missing children? Nothing feels right, or does it feel like the same as before?
Who knows, maybe it’s just an unclear vision they both had.

Not to mention, he’s also reverting back to his old ‘delinquent’ ways. He’s acting out: cussing at teachers, letting his grades slip, ignoring his friends, family, and girlfriend.
But, one scolding later, he’s now forced to balance school and his new job at Scoops Ahoy. Oh, and The Upside Down is still a problem.
OR
A season 4 fix-it, with Mike Wheeler and Max Mayfield working at Scoops Ahoy—except, Hopper was never kidnapped and the Byers still live in Hawkins.
