The first time they hooked up, Rozanov had kissed him before Shane got on his knees. They kissed when Scott Hunter was in the room next-door. And they kissed slowly and sweetly, on his apartment stairway, after Rozanov had taken his world apart and put him back together again. Hell, even in that bathroom, where he felt as if the Russian was trampling on his bared soul, Rozanov had kissed him.
So why was it different this time? What did he do wrong?
Shane aches with how much he wants—needs the other man. There is a hollow numbness in his chest every time he thinks about those golden curls and ocean eyes, and he hates himself for wishing he could have more.

But having to live with what she’s done is a just punishment, as far as she is concerned, though if they want to go further, she won’t protest. Nothing can change what she has done, so she must atone for it in some small way—even if that way means to rot in a SHIELD cell for the rest of her life.
Four little words: “Remember who you are”—who’d have thought they could hold such power?
The first memory to take shape, she plucks out from the mass of blurred overlapping fragments during a session with the psychiatrist, one in which she’s asked explicitly about the nature of her relationship with Captain Stephanie Rogers.

The party was torture. Ed was touchy on a normal day, but tonight was apparently not normal. Every chance she got, her hands were on Stede somehow in some way. Standing in the kitchen talking with Pete and Jim, her fingers danced back and forth across Stede’s lower back. Sitting on the couch with Wee John and Frenchie, Ed rested her hand on Stede’s thigh and nonchalantly traced her fingers along the inner seam of her pants. Dancing was hell. Stede tried to retreat back to the couch but Ed tugged her back close to her body, whispering, “I’m not done with you yet,” before twisting her into a spin.

Summary
Ed was…amazing, so she didn’t want to lose her friendship just because she couldn’t keep it together for one night.
However.
That didn’t mean Stede wasn’t up for a little flirting. She had misread situations before so she had promised herself not to say a word, but showing her affection and availability was a whole different story. Then, if Ed made the first move, Stede could be sure no harm would be done to their relationship. And if nothing came of tonight, then she’d know that they really are just great friends. Which would be fine. Well, she’d probably have a good cry over it but then it would be fine.
