Summary
Instead of dying on No Man's Land, or running away from reporters and Earth-brought soldiers for the rest of their lives, Vash and Knives wake up in the wastes outside Midgar on Gaia. And meet someone saying their "Mother" wants to see them.
Rather than let Jenova do what she wants, Vash would rather save lives, and while Knives isn't keen on helping him, he doesn't like the idea of humans being used by a "higher being" as her "children."
And Cloud? He just wants to kill the thing that's planning to kill his planet and played around with his mind for a while, and save his friend if he has the chance.
They all have something to learn from each other as they approach their end goals. Whether those goals come from the same place by the end of the tale is another matter entirely.

He’s practically a miracle worker, after all. The Phoenix program’s a rousing success, Shroud’s back behind bars, the Z-Team’s at the top of Torrance’s leaderboard… and with the director of the SDN offering him the promotion in person, how could he say no?
So, he agrees on one condition: if he’s moving up, the Z-Team’s moving up, too.
They’re in the big leagues now. Designer costumes, a broader beat, photoshoots, galas, merch… sure, a few of the SDN’s golden boys have gone rogue and the director’s suddenly desperate to get Robert —specifically Robert— back in the field, but who’s got time to worry about that when L.A.’s favorite reformed villains are making their encore debut?

Malevola has him pinned against her side, hanging onto him like she’s afraid he’s going to get swallowed by the drunken crowd. Sonar is on her other side, ears glowing faintly with the strobe lights as he knocks into her repeatedly.
Visi swings by, wipes the corner of his mouth, then disappears. Hot hands find his head a second- seconds? minutes? later. The flash of orange and black coming closer has him swaying dangerously to catch whatever Flambae starts to mutter against his ear. Something about shitty music?
Coop saunters past with a glint of metal, prying the empty tumbler from his hand. Punch Up appears with a full one to replace it. It makes his face flush when he takes a swig.
“Yo! Anyone seen Golem?” Prism pushes through. She’s got Waterboy by the wrist; She might be about to use him to purposely slip people and get them out of her way. Phenomaman is floating after them.
Visi comes back again, this time with Blazer holding on for dear life. They’re hugging like it’s the end of the world instead of just being drunk in a shitty bar. Blazer smiles, dimples showing. His vision swims.
The whiskey burns. So does the ache in his chest.

Attend his friends' parties, maintain small talk, get through the day — and hopefully his friends won't realize how messed up he really is.
Everyone is out-pacing him. While he's barely getting out of bed in the morning, his friends are making waves, changing lives, getting engaged.
He can't even get his girlfriend to text him back.
So, sure. Maybe he's not in the best head space right now — but 'suicidal'? Ladybug's certainly just reading too deeply into things. But if her concern for Chat Noir's mental state is enough to get her reaching out, well, he won't turn down the opportunity to chat with a friend. Besides, Ladybug seems to be having a rough go of it, too. Maybe they can help each other out.

Marinette nodded. “I… I can’t know all the details. But yes, anything, please! But you have to never slip, Alya. You can’t tell me who he is. You can’t hint! You may have to lie to me to protect him!”
