It's been four years since the accident that prematurely ended their recital. MARI and her mom ended up moving to the city, skipping a full year of high school to immediately get started on college.
After becoming a shut-in, dealing with a life-altering identity crisis, catching up through years of online school, along with a depression diagnosis, SUNNY's finally gotten to the swing of things.
Isolating herself from the outside world may not be the healthiest, but she likes to think she's made it work. Life is fine like this! SUNNY has no intention of ever stepping a foot outside again.
She hasn't heard anything from her old friends, but that's okay! She wouldn't wanna burden them with her company, anyway. They'd already had to deal with enough as-is.
At least, that was the plan. Her father seems to have important news for her. What could he possibly want to talk about...?

As it turns out, there’s another truth hidden in his mind, long lost yet desperate to be found, concerning the nature of his very existence. Joined by a cast of characters old and new in dream and reality, Sunny will have to dig deep within himself to discover the Legend of the Lost City and the truth buried within. Can Sunny reach out and grasp it, or will he wander forever in his dreams?
Omori 2: Legend of the Lost City is my overambitious and weird-even-for-me idea for a direct sequel to Omori. Inspired by recent and distant events in my life, as well some of the other excellent games I’ve played since writing my first fic on here, I hope it works as a good Sunny-centered story.

Aubrey noticed how Sunny’s eyes flickered as she looked her up and down, immediately sparkling brightly as she recognized her face. Sometimes Sunny would be too spaced out to register fully what was happening, and what happened just now was one of those moments.
”Aubssss!!!” Sunny shouted - well, not really, since at least she didn’t wake up the whole neighborhood with her voice - then with a concerningly wide grin distorting her features, she reached out an arm, linked it around Aubrey’s, making her nearly fall against the smaller girl as she dragged her into the depths of her house.
….ah, that was too dramatic, wasn’t it?

Concerned about Sunny not walking to school with her as usual, - not even going to school at all - Aubrey heads over to Mari and Sunny’s house to check on her. ”Mhm. Try it,” said Sunny shortly, her ears a glowing pink as her face turned away in the slightest movement. Her hands lifted the tray a little more upwards, and Aubrey reached then snatched a cookie.
Little chocolate chips were embedded in the baked dough, and Aubrey couldn’t get enough of it after the first bite. However, she kept her composure, feeling the crusty texture of the cookie against her finger tips as she munched on the small bite of cookie.
Shaking her pink hair out of her face, she squinted at Sunny. "Are you sure this is like, your first time baking? Mari didn't give you top-secret baking lessons, did she?"

Footsteps came from the doorway, and as Sunny approached, she noticed the figure of a girl around her age standing there and looking at her.
She knew that the girl in question was her age because she was Aubrey. No mistaking that pink hair.
Aubrey’s eyes met Sunny’s, her expression unusually plain as she even staggered a little backwards away from the shorter girl.
"Who— oh." Almost as soon as Sunny had seen the girl in the doorway, Mari came rushing out of the kitchen while holding a....whisking tool? A whisker? What was she even planning to do with it— "Aubrey!" She hid the utensil behind her back, her head tilted with a smile again almost immediately. With how obnoxiously bright her sweater was, one wouldn't have even noticed the whisking tool in the first place.
