Powder tears up, dropping her gaze. Her tears flicker with shimmer, eyes beginning to glow.
“Do you think… Things would’ve turned out better if I found her? I tried. God I tried… but we were so young…”
She palms her forehead, breaths becoming erratic. After a moment, her eyes return to normal. The panic fades, as if her emotions got reset. She looks back to him. He fiddles with his hands.
“Anyway, I'm glad she’s..” A thought crosses his mind. He looks at her suspiciously. “She is alive, right?”
Powder pats herself down.
“I’m pretty sure.” Her eyes flutter. He smiles, but it quickly fades.
“You’re not my Jinx,” he says, his voice brimming with pain.
“You’re not my Ekko.” They share a solemn glance, growing silent.

Summary
Three years of nonstop battle. Three years of campaigning, of concocting plans and holding things together as budgets faltered and superiors demanded more, as fellow generals assumed he could conjure miracles and therefore failed to actually show up as reinforcements, and Techno’s own side had pulled the rug out from under him. They’d mismanaged so much of the war that defeat had become the favorable option, and then none of them had wanted to take the consequences onto their shoulders.
There had to be a show of faith, they’d said. The Antarctic Empire had traditions when it came to graciously accepting an enemy surrender, and one of them was the delivery of some important adversary into their hands.

Summary
Another deep breath. His throat started to burn more intensely but he pushed the feeling down. It was stupid that his body wanted to be fed again already, after all, Dream had allowed him an extra meal before he went off to ensure he wouldn’t faint during the mission. It was very considerate of him and Tommy was thankful. He didn’t know if he’d made it through the night otherwise. The stress seemed to gnaw away at his reserves even more than usual. (Not that he’d much of those, anyway – his new body seemed to demand blood all the fucking time. It was disgusting. He really was a monster.)
OR
Tommy’s life hasn’t been that great recently with forcefully being turned into a vampire and being just barely kept alive by the hunters. And it’ll come to a quick end if he doesn’t prove to them that he can be useful. The annual Solstice ball at the Syndicate coven’s manor seems to be his chance to prove his worth: He needs to gather information about vampires there; information that can help the hunters bring them down. Easy, right?

Summary
His eyes flicker over all of the boy’s features—his round, blue eyes, lashes fluttering, eyes shifting. His strong chin and nose, not…completely dissimilar to Wilbur’s. Golden curls, curving and waving down Tommy’s forehead, twisting around his ears.
Wilbur can feel his own curls do just the same.
A sort of airy insanity fills Wilbur’s chest as he brings a shaky hand towards Tommy’s hair. So similar to his own.
The barked laugh comes out so quick Wilbur almost chokes on it.
Holy shit.
This is his son.
He’s a fucking father.

Wilbur awakes in a hospital bed with no memory of the past few years. The only thing he knows is that Tommy—passionate, stubborn, worried—has got to be his son.

Out of his hero-gear, Techno should look just as intimidating as when he’s in it. He’s still absolutely massive, built in such a way that he could crush someone’s skull with just one hand. The absence of a mask means nothing, either, not when it gives direct access to stoic eyes, or the scars and battle wounds that nick at Techno’s jaw and stretch down the side of his nose.
Besides. Techno doesn’t need his costume to demand the obedience of the darkness.
Still. Still.
Tommy can’t be scared—not of this. Not when Techno’s hands are occupied with takeout bags, or when he’s wearing glasses low against his nose, or when his eyes meet Tommy’s and the corners of his mouth lift slightly. “Got takeout.”

Tommy is living a double life: at home, he spends time with his...mentor? Techno. At night, he goes out as the vigilante Flare.
It would be a lot easier if Techno wasn't the hero hunting him down. Oh—and if Techno didn't absolutely hate Flare.
But Tommy is determined to keep up the lie. He'll be fine! Right?
