After discarding everything except his sword and his purse, both of which hung at his belt, he headed back down, finding a seat in a more secluded corner of the main bar, two bartenders hurriedly taking orders and heading back inside to the kitchen.
It didn’t take Impulse long to realize that most of this town was human—and at first, he’d assumed Jimmy was the only exception. But when another bartender came rushing out of the kitchen, Impulse quickly registered the small set of white wings on his back, dark hair glinting in the dim light of the tavern.
Interesting.
One hesitant thought flashed through Impulse’s mind, but he shoved it back down. Surely not. It wouldn’t be that easy for one of… them to hide.

Here’s the thing. Etho meant to go to Hermitcraft- he really did. But something obviously got messed up- some wire got crossed, some thread got tangled, and now he was not there. Instead, he’s stuck with three kids who seem to think that he’s a guy named Kakashi (them and everyone else) and while he would work on leaving, all the fuss is pretty entertaining.
Eh, he’ll find his way home eventually. No need to rush…

Mumbo hardly took in the details of the figure of his friend as he drew closer, failing to note the way his wings bent at unnatural angles, the way he stood slouched, the way his breath rattled in a chest half-caved in.... he didn’t notice a single thing was awry until he placed a hand on Grian’s shoulder and it sunk a little too far into his bloodsoaked jumper.

The Rift was never meant to be anything more than a decoration. It was meant to sit there, look pretty, and be used in the imagined backstory of Grian and Mumbo's shared base. And that is all it did.
Until it opened, animate corpses started pouring out of it, and the Hermits understanding of their reality was shattered, for good.
