Summary
Mike doesn't remember much of the final battle against Vecna when he wakes up, but he quickly finds out nothing is at it seems — and it hasn't been for a long time.
Or a post-S5 volume 2 fix-it fic where monsters are lurking around an abandoned Hawkins, Vecna is nowhere to be found, and Mike has no idea how they can stop the world from ending.

A voice rang out from the opposing end of the line, it struck Mike oddly enough. He was just in a mood from this call now his heart was beating and he couldn't quite think straight– the voice continued rambling onto something but Mike can't comprehend not till he hears "IT is back, Rich'" with heavy breathing following.
Mike scrambles- lifting his hand moving it back and forth from the back to his palm before just spitting something out. His head was splitting, spinning- god who knows?
"Just uh- call back in 10' —my head is, I'm sorry Eds'!"

Distantly, a boy would be quite unable to handle his emotions anymore, "Richie- fucking Tozier!"

"Mike could reason a lot away.
He'd been having nightmares since the day Will went missing, and headaches and even nosebleeds were symptoms of sleep deprivation and stress, both of which weren't exactly uncommon occurrences in his life. He hadn't heard any clock, and he thinks he'd know if he'd been hunted by a monster from another dimension - probably.
But Mike was also not a complete idiot - usually - and he was good at recognising patterns.Most damming of all, all of this had stopped practically the second he left Hawkins.
This fucking town."
Aka my rewrite of season five, featuring Mike being vecna'd and very slowburn very angsty Byler.
How long will it take Mike to tell someone he is being hunted and psychologically tortured by an interdimensional monster?

Summary
The storm over Mike’s head brews. The gray clouds darken to black as if something’s burning—but there’s no smoke. The ground trembles beneath him, quaking with anger. Overhead, a tornado forms, churning in the sky.
More than one—a dozen, maybe more—tornadoes form all at once. Mike lets out a cry, not sure if it’s rain or tears streaming down his cheeks. The downpour grows heavier, blurring everything into gray, while the earth shakes harder beneath him. More tornados spin into existence. Strangely, it feels like a weight is being lifted from his shoulders, as if this storm—no, this disaster—is somehow soothing.
Or after season 2, with the heightened/extreme stress and the pores from the tunnels. Mike awakens his powers, being the first mutant on Earth in X–Men terminology. This can be a fix–it or some kind for the next season maybe…
(season 3-5 rewrite feat. platonic mileven and will overthinking and getting jealous over nothing)

People change, right? That's all thats happened.

At once, all of the pieces come together, and Mike isn’t sure he likes the shape they take. It’s like someone has taken a ball of red string into his brain and begun connecting years of memories he has worked so hard to ignore.
The painting. The red string reaches for another memory: El’s letter from that spring. All the shared looks that were meant only for the two of them. That day in the rain. Each shoulder bump. Every unnecessary brush of the knee.
Crimson yarn stretches into the recesses of his mind: The way Mike would always sit just a touch too close. The way Will would always let him. How lost Mike felt the year Will was in California. How he could never find the right words to say. The weird feeling Mike got in his chest when he saw Will at the airport, and he felt like he couldn’t breathe. The worst week of his life, back in 83’. "If we both go crazy, at least we’ll go crazy together, right?"
The string loops back around and grabs one final piece of the puzzle: Tammy motherfucking Thompson.

Will Byers and Mike Wheeler have been talking recently. Mike hadn't expected it, really. Longer talks on the phone, more planning, less of the Party. Mike didn't pay much mind to it. Maybe Will just wanted company. He wasn't complaining.
It started getting different when Will got touchy. Will was the type to keep to himself, and Mike hadn't expected.. this.
He has no clue what's going on or why everything he felt 2 years ago is hitting him straight in the face. He still doesn't know what it is.

He remembered a book he read once where the main character was poisoned and had to force himself to throw up to get it out of his system. If his memory was correct, he just had to press his fingers to the back of his mouth to trigger his gag reflex. He shoved two of his fingers down his throat and gagged until he finally vomited.

Summary
Before hell opened up in Hawkins, before that spring break that feels now like an eternity ago, Mike and Max would sit, silent on the edges of the woods surrounding Hawkins High, sharing a cigarette. There was a unique knowing that they shared, a longing for people far away, dead, for the person they used to be. They rarely spoke, other than to mock something, a harsh jest or jab at one another before slipping into silence once again. The thing shared between them was a friendship born from a lack of expectations. One of them could fail to show, and the other wouldn’t mind or care. They met at that same table in the woods every single day.
Like that time, they sit together in this cave, not saying anything. There is no cigarette passing between them, but the steadiness is there. Mike will never admit it, but he missed Max a significant amount, missed how she was always real with him, who understood him in silence better than most people could.In which Mike Wheeler gets trapped in Henry's mind, and must escape with Max. An odyssey.

Summary
Everyone has a secret. Including Mike Wheeler, who finds himself stuck reliving his best friend Will Byers' coming out. Why does his chest feel so tight when he thinks about it? Why couldn't he just get over himself? The party begins their climb to the Abyss and while the threat of Vecna and the evils above loom over them, so does Mike's secret.
While Will Byers grapples with his newfound powers and the responsibility of defending the party, he's still left with the guilt of letting Vecna take those kids, and the knowledge that he created those tunnels in Hawkins. And on top of that, he's trying to get over his best friend (who is definitely his Tammy. Right?) while protecting his friends and family from the demos that come for them in the endless tunnel system that is the Abyss.
Or: a finale rewrite that reimagines the Abyss, the mind flayer, and the final battle while leaving room for my favorite ship.

A canon fix it where the canon story is Will's Vecna vision that has been used to trap him. So now the team must prepare for the final battle to uncover the secrets that have plagued them for years and Mike must finally come to terms with his feelings for his best friend. A retelling and fix it of sorts on how I think Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 and the ending should have gone because a) the plot actually REQUIRED a Byler endgame b) the fans had much better theories than whatever I was made to watch.
