“Don't be mean, Robbie. I'm self-conscious about my nostrils.”
Robert helps Sonar kick his coke habit. Through unconventional means.

It seemed innocuous at the time, an offhanded comment after a report regarding some teens, but the suggestion lingered in his head night after night. Would it really help? Make him better to work with?
“You really don’t wanna try living without…” the blonde man gestured at the puddle under Herman’s cup "This? Even for a bit?”
Herman always had a... complicated relationship with his powers, far more than the average super. So when he was offered a special drug by one of Sonar's old buddies, something that could help him control his powers? Why would he pass up the chance for something he'd dreamed of for years?
(This fic is waterboy-centered and revolves around themes of addiction and mental illness, i am aiming for a happy ending but will i get there? only time will tell XD)

Summary
One of the main characters - the only surviving witness to a murder - has just woken from a coma. Not only is she entirely cognizant, but the first thing that the subtitles say she asks for is a lawyer.
“What are you fucking giggling about?”
The other person that’s been paying attention is Flambae. He’s right next to Robert on the couch, his arm slung over the top behind his head. One foot is propped up on the other knee, also pointing towards Robert, which has him caged in the corner by the arm rest. It’s probably some fucked-up power move. Robert has been ignoring it just to spite him.
“It’s just not how comas work,” Robert shrugs.
“Right, and you know because you’re a fucking doctor,” Flambae quips back.
“I know because I was in one, asshole.”

During a quiet night in, Robert realizes that his coma and injuries aren't common knowledge among Z-Team.
Most of them take the information in stride with jokes aplenty.
Flambae does not.

Summary
{Waterboy hiccupped, pressing his grip more tightly into his arms. Rough scratches were already turning into welts on his skin. Finally, he sat up. His lower abdomen heaved harshly, a few stretch marks webbing a slight pouch. Before Robert could begin to come to the conclusion himself, Waterboy opened his legs, whimpering. When Robert looked down, he could see a head emerging from him.
His ears began to ring so loudly that he can barely hear Waterboy sobbing beside him. He couldn't force himself not to freeze this time, staring at the head and back at Waterboy's tear and water soaked face. He tried to speak, but his voice only came out in erratic bursts.
“You- but we only- it's been- I’m not-”}
Things happen quickly sometimes. One minute, you're waking up regretting a one night stand, the next minute, you're in the NICU staring down your future. Robert and Waterboy try to figure out their relationship, parenthood, and maybe fall in love along the way. It's messy, but worth it in the end.

In his sleep, Robert appears- for once in his life- like he’s not stressed to hell and back. The frown lines on his forehead are smooth and lax, and even the exhausted bruises that paint the skin below his eyes a sickly purple seem diminished in the soothing glow of Chad’s bedside lamp. He’s still scruffy and unfortunately clothed in that hideous uniform, but all that does is add to the reality of Robert being here, safe and comfortable in Chad’s bed.
Without even realizing he’s doing it, Chad reaches out and smooths his hand over the messy puff of Robert’s hair. The other man hums quietly and turns towards the warmth of his palm, and Chad flinches back like he’s somehow, impossibly, been burned. Robert’s face creases into that oh-so familiar frown as if Chad’s touch was wanted in the first place, and a spike of longing spears through him.
