Summary
Astarion isn't used to kindness without having to pay a price for it. Especially after having his mind infected with a parasite, and meeting others who also suffer from it, he wouldn't think there'd be any inch of hospitality. Then he meets HER; she who smiles and laughs even after seeing the face of death at her door. One would believe a wayward soul like hers would be easy to pray upon, and that is certainly what Astarion plans to do. Still...there's something about her.

Gale could feel a slight tremor to his hand now. Not from the impact, nor from the strength it took to pull it free. It was power that brought his arm to shake.
This was different from what he usually sought, the intoxicating taste of the Weave coursing through his body and flowing from his fingertips in spells that could shape reality to his whims, this was physical. Each time he struck, following the commands with precise timings, he felt it.
The grip of the paddle hard in his hand, the reverberation of the impact travelling into his palm and wrist, the sound of the breath leaving the writhing man with the whispers of every penitent soul.
