FINALLY got this one out of my marked for later list after it was mentioned in the comments of a tiktok video. and goddamn. im not usually in the mood for foster/modern fics (sometimes a lil boring or winding tbh) but when i AM in the mood, IM IN THE FUCKING MOOD !!!! THIS perfectly filled that hole in my heart. i love bedrock bros so fucking much, and i love how this story navigates the death of a loved one and the subsequent grief, the foster system, how child abusers or child neglect can so easily get sweeped under the radar. the MANIPULATION. i love how hard techno fought for him (even though it WAS pretty late) when he realised how serious it might be. love his violent tendencies showing up and him beating d up, and then going on to tell his students about it?? icon. love that guy. this is great. (+ q showing up as a lawyer. big fan)

i FUCKING love this fic. like no joke this is incredible and i binged it in one whole sitting. the way techno thinks is so fucking accurate to a 16 year old and his parent situation (mainly the mother interactions) felt like i was reading a transcript from my own home on GOD. i usually get really bored really fast for foster/modern au longfics, but i HIGHHLYYYY recommend this one. big big fan. love the neurodivergency. i love the interactions. great great fic <3

Summary
Tommy was living the worst weeks of his life. First, he found out he's a necromancer, something that is very, very illegal and will probably get him killed. Second he got caught by hunters and captured. Now he's been sold to some cult so he can raise their "Blood God" from the dead.
The only real upside to all of this is that their Blood God might be just as lost and confused as Tommy is. Oh, also, he's very much not a god, but nobody's told the cult this.

A vegan necromancer and a normal dude attempt to escape a cult together.

“Something has been stolen from us,” Thanatos said, his wings puffing up as he spoke. “Something that is very important to us. And we are fairly certain that the person who stole this thing of ours is in this very crowd.”
Dream tensed beside Tommy as the crowd broke out into murmurs. Eyes were darting towards the different heroes in the crowd, the benefactors no doubt assuming that the culprit had to be a hero.
“Like we said, we haven’t crashed your party to cause trouble. But we want this thing returned to us, and we won’t hesitate to take extreme measures to get what we want.”
or, Tommy was a lot of things: a newly debuted hero sidekick, an amnesiac, and a former kidnapping victim of the Syndicate.
Tommy didn't actually remember that last one though. That was just what Dream told him.
Only weeks after his hero debut, the Syndicate announces they are searching for something, and Tommy knows it has to be him. The scariest part? If they find him, Tommy will have no clue what to expect, because the Syndicate might know him, but he has no memories of them.
So he can't let them find him. No matter what.
Of course they end up finding him anyway.

“It’s not safe up on the rooftops. Go home.” Eraserhead says. He worries, every time. Shouto has learnt to sit down before he gets there, so that he doesn’t look like he’s about to jump. But a kid sitting alone on a rooftop still isn’t normal. Not that Shouto ever was.

Shouto makes a deal with the devil, to escape from the future his father had mapped out for him. It doesn’t take long for him to realise that being forgotten by everyone is not a blessing, but a curse.

Hunter shrieks because floors should not speak. The floor—or, more precisely, the abomination goo puddled on it—then begins to coalesce into a familiar shape. Mere seconds later, Darius Fucking Deamonne stands in front of Hunter with one hip cocked to the side and an imperious eyebrow arched. All of that would be very intimidating, if it weren’t for the fact that he’s also wearing a lavender bathrobe and fuzzy cat-shaped slippers.
“A little late for visitors, isn’t it, princeling mine?”
