Jason’s 15. Not old enough to drink but still knows enough to break a man 10 different ways before they could blink. If that doesn’t make people question Bruce’s psychological state as a person, let alone a parent, then he doesn’t know what will.
He runs because he's not needed anymore. Because Bruce took away everything that ever meant anything to him, leaving him as just plain old Jason Todd.
He runs because at least he can keep his head held high.

Jason Todd wakes up six feet under ground. Then he starts to remember how he got there. Jason escapes his coffin and remembers the words said in his fight with Bruce.
"I'm not your father Jason, I don't need a teenage rebellion from you."
Instead of searching out Bruce on his way out of the cemetery Jason wanders around Gotham in a catatonic-like state.
Years later, and with help from Talia, he manages to get into med school and start his residency. Unfortunately for him the only place that he never wanted to return to is the one place that still has available spaces to take on the beginners... and Bruce Wayne was going to give a speech to the new residents in the hospital that very day.

After several more painful coughs racked his body, he finally fell silent. He straightened up, wiping his mouth with the sleeve of his shirt. It was only when he pulled it away that you noticed the blood-red tint on the fabric, one matching his lips. His right hand fell open to let you see the small, blue flower he held—Streaked with blood and crumpled from his tight grip.

Sure, Kenma and Kuroo know how important the idea of soulmates is to society, it's practically what everyone ever talks about, but it's not the most important thing to them. What's important is each other.
