Summary
A tragedy only becomes a tragedy when you reach the end of the story. Two people can have fears and desires that clash, like the edges of puzzle pieces that were never meant to fit together. People can want to stay together, but be led in opposite directions by stronger instincts. Two people can need each other, love each other, and be destined to die apart.
Criss and Cross are a tragedy. They had their chance of life together but they lost it. Now, against all odds, they get a happy ending.
Cross takes Criss by the hand and leads him out into the world for the first time.

“How?” asks Yoshiki in a very, very small voice.

Why did I agree to this? This is stupid. And reckless.
As he traipsed through the gloom of the countryside woods, squinting more towards the thankfully dry ground than the horizon to make sure he didn't lose his footing, he wondered if the reality he'd found himself submerged in had finally driven him insane. 'Hikaru' was a predator. So why was Yoshiki willingly playing sacrificial lamb with his soul like this, frolicking around past 2am?

“I was checking out a violent impurity here. Thought I could handle it alone, y’know, no people around at night. But… it kinda dropped something on me.” His tone faltered, a nervous edge cutting through, and Yoshiki’s chest tightened.
“Dropped what?” Yoshiki asked, stepping into the building, the air thick with sawdust and something heavier, wetter. ‘Hikaru’ didn’t answer right away, only a faint, “Just… come find me.” and the line went quiet, leaving Yoshiki alone with the echo of his own footsteps and the growing dread pooling in his stomach.
