Summary
Alastor’s powers were not the only thing he lost control of when his staff got broken by Adam. With Alastor’s return to the newly rebuilt hotel his unruly shadow is making his life increasingly difficult, and worse, completely ruining his reputation. The thing had no sense of self respect, happily cuddling up to Alastor’s most hated enemies just to annoy him, knowing Alastor could feel every touch through their connection. And to make matters worse the shadow, still plagued with nostalgic feelings for Alastor’s once friend now enemy, has taken it upon itself to play match maker. If Rosie didn’t fix his staff for him soon, Alastor was surely going to lose it.

They look down at their hands for a moment, fingers twisting together in deep thought. Then they’re pulling their gloves off, revealing pale, half-bruised knuckles of the human variation, and their mask is dissolving, giving way to big blue-purple eyes and an achingly familiar jet-black cowlick. “Who,” says Keith Kogane, in that low-pitched rumble that makes Lance’s stomach roil in the good way—holy fuck—“is this guy you’re trying to get over?”
