    Summary

    This gen version of my Desperate Hours series is marked gen because it has no corporal punishment elements in it. The series is Faramir-centric, in an AU where Faramir is secretly the illegitimate son of Aragorn. In the course of writing the first main story about Faramir and Aragorn beginning to work together before they knew about this relationship (Beginnings &Endings), I rather got derailed into developing a bunch of other characters, which is where most of the stories come from. Below in the notes I have listed the major distinctions from, and certain elaborations on, the canon of Tolkien's Legendarium, for purposes of this AU, which I am calling the Desperate Hours alternate universe, Gen version (DH AU G).

    Once upon a time, Tolkien envisioned a sequel to The Lord of the Rings, but stopped after roughly the first chapter. It was going to get dark from there, and so it was shelved.

    This story is a would-be what-if, following from where the end of what Tolkien wrote leaves off, with the request set forth by my recipient for a story featuring Herumor/Saelon, and with the two of them making an attempt to summon Sauron.

    In emulating the style and what Tolkien did in leaving the story unfinished, this chapter is complete, but the tale is left untold at the end.
