“I suppose I could have,” he begins. “Some people do it as a springboard for that. Or because they’re very detail-oriented, organized, whatever, and they like putting things in order. But I sort of fell in love with the concept of the library when I was studying. I love that it’s a place of possibility, for anyone.” He looks back up at Viktor, ears heating up for the third time today. It’s really getting embarrassing. But he is passionate about this, and he finds himself unable to stop talking.
“It’s the very principle of the institution, making knowledge and understanding accessible and digestible. Anyone can come to the library and learn something.” Jayce’s hands gesticulate firmly around him, stressing his words.
“And it’s up to librarians to continue cultivating that space. I want to do that. I want to bring knowledge to the world.”
