“I came because I missed you.”
Lucifer turns. There’s some life in his eyes in the form of shock as he stares up at Alastor. Alastor is too horrified and furious with himself to fully register it.
“You missed me?” Lucifer repeats, his skepticism loud and clear.
Alastor resists the urge to throw himself off the roof. Doing so won’t change what he’s said. And he can’t very well lie and deny the sincerity of his words. Lucifer would immediately teleport him away to who knows where.
“…yes,” Alastor admits through clenched teeth. “I missed you.”
Lucifer blinks at him wordlessly as the seconds tick by. Then he huffs and looks back out at the storm.
“As if I’d believe that.”

Summary
As is the case with most ideas, Charlie is the one to suggest that Alastor bring Lucifer to the next overlord meeting.
“We need to know what the overlords are up to if we’re going to have any chance at saving the sinners under their control,” she points out to Lucifer.
“Uh-huh. But, duckling, your little bellhop boy is already an overlord with insight into those meetings. Why do I need to join him?”
Charlie clasps her hands together, her scarlet eyes sparkling. “For team-bonding!”
Well. That is an argument against going, as far as Lucifer is concerned.

She sat down, and gestured with her drink towards Alastor. “You keep staring at him.”
“I – I don’t know what you mean, Lil.” Lucifer took a sip of his drink, trying to act normal, but somehow, swallowing felt difficult. She knew. Of course she knew, he was so obvious. Never able to hide a damn thing.
But Lilith didn’t look angry. Her eyes twinkled with amusement, and she lowered her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “Do you want him?”

These days, he’s hoping to claim the title of Hell’s Greatest Dad, which is an accomplishment easier said than done. Enter one arrogant and conniving Radio Demon and life suddenly takes a turn for the worst. But hey, what’s a little misery to the King of Hell.

Lucifer could think of a million-and-one reasons to distrust Alastor, but if there’s ever a lesson that the universe is happy to teach him time and time again, it’s that mortals have a peculiar habit of being so much more than they seem. Suddenly, those million-and-one reasons don’t seem to hold much weight, especially when revelations lead to him needing to rely on the one sinner who makes his life a living hell.
