The sound of clicky footsteps prevents Veneer from responding, and in a split-second panic he shoots to his feet, jerks open a janitor's closet, shoves the diamond in haphazardly and dusts off his palms anxiously. Clenching his hands by his sides, he sweats when his sister comes to a stop in front of him and looks him up and down.
“Where... is the troll, Veneer?” Velvet emphasizes, gesturing at him blindly, eyes skimming around to try and detect the shimmer of the diamond prison. Patting his hips, he grimaces, fingers rubbing together as a way to self-soothe.

7 weeks, 49 days, 1176 hours of just staring at purple glass. It was cold against Floyd’s skin as he laid on it, feeling his body fade from his mind. Electric tingles nipped at his fingers and toes, refusing to let up even if he laid there for a while. Sometimes, he would lose his sense of time, realistically not knowing how long he had been in this diamond until he heard the twins enter the dressing room, only then could he gather how long it’s been.

Floyd had been captured for nearly 2 months before John Dory showed up, and nearly died not even a week later. The toll on his body was lethal, and there is no way he had a quick recovery. A collection of short chapters just to look into his recovery and his struggle with accepting that he may never be completely better.
